It isn't surprising that Dems are unhappy with Biden. There is plenty to be unhappy about and that is just the way it is right now. And, Biden had achieved a whole lot inspite of the structural challenges he has inherited and also the changes in the govt and those forces that try to hinder him(Repubs mostly, and a party with polarized political views(moderates vs. progressives).

I think the Atlantic article gets this right...one can't make everyone happy. In fact, some unhappiness and disappointed actually shows he(Biden) is doing his job. And, it isn't worth listening to most extreme Republicans since they just want him out....so nothing they say is going to be reasonable or well though out, it will be partisan only.

The point is he has done nothing that the previous Administration didn't do. So what change did we get? He is a failure at Year 1. There is no glossing this over with words. As a Democrat...that has voted Democrat in every election except my first...I can 1000% guarantee I will not vote in the next election if things do not change. I expect leadership beyond consoling disaster victims

*rolled out vaccines that around 62% of americans have taken both shots, 72% one shot, booster numbers growing with the 6-month eligibility

*$1.9 trillion covid relief deal (which helped keep people in their homes and children fed, postponed student debt repayments and more)

*$1.2 trillion historical bipartisan infrastructure bill passed

*has nominated and had appointed dozens (up to 70) federal district and circuit court nominations, progressing with his pledge to bring a whole lot more diversity to the federal bench even as his nominations range across the circuits.

*unemployment reduced to 4.2%

*managed to ease the shipping backups and get goods into stores preventing colossal shortages

*has promoted, and continues to promote, the concepts of civility, patience and kindness

*has worked tirelessly with NATO and other world counterparts to deny putin's aggression

*brought American troops out of the Afghanistan war...all before him waffled about it, he did it

Though he's yet to be able to pass the huge social relief BBB package, he's not given up on getting as much of its elements through as possible given the 50/50 split. As well as having to fight with the likes of sinema and manchin to help americans, he's had to fight about one third of the american population over masks and vaccines which has led to the surges we saw in delta and is now helping omicron cases overwhelm hospitals.

Given his 1st year and all the obstacles, i think he's doing pretty well so far. He needs more people to vote for dems across states to release the deadhold the republican representatives and manchin/sinema have in order to pass what most Americans want passed, including the voting rights bill as well as BBB.

Excuse me? Just for starters. An infrastructure bill passed and signed.

What were you thinking?

An infrastructure bill that does what? No forward thinking included in it....so money is nothing but a temp jobs bill...it doesn't even cover the road repairs that are needed. I know...you think a trillion is hot shit. But when you have 10 trillion needed to just repair what we have...where is the future? By the time it is looked at again....the cost will be 50 trillion. Kick the problems down the road to our kids. Nice job

An infrastructure bill that does more than anything Trump got done on it. Don't go changing the goal posts now. We're dealing with your ridiculous statement here.

Hate to tell you..none of that spending yielded anything except increased debt. Money went to worthless causes under pretext of helping those in need. Have you seen how many new TVs were bought following the checks being sent? TVs....not food...not clothes...not school supplies....TVs. Their heart was in the right place...but they failed. Kicked the can down the road for kids to deal with.

Yes...he got us out of Afghanistan. One thing done right. I will give him credit there

Fuck you. I am not changing the goal posts. Don't treat me like a mother fucking deplorable. I was voting Democrat before your momma was born. The Party has lost its way. No goals. No platform. Nothing. Leadership is lacking. In one year....we lose the House and Senate. In 3 years the Presidency. Why? Because you think we have done OK. America wants more. They deserve more

given the senate split, you want President Biden to achieve more then it's up to voters such as yourself to give him that majority so he CAN get things passed

of course he's not achieved everything anyone with even a limited progressive slant would want, but this IS his FIRST year and has been coping with a pandemic as well as the afghani withdrawal. Against all the odds he's managed to get a hell of a lot done... if people give him a solid senate majority, no manchin lone fucking bastard can prevent him getting a whole lot more done. Walking away in disgust after a single year will do more to harm any political achievements the Democratic party hope to make than help them.

i know for a fact that money (plus other moves like preventing evictions) helped keep a whole lot of people making it through the last year, a roof over their heads and food in their bellies, when they couldn't work. And if some spent it on 'luxury' items, it's not hurting the economy but helped keep businesses trading and people employed where feasible. Studies have shown that the largest slice of relief checks was spent on paying down debts, followed by food and rent/heating, followed by savings.

The funding for these bills was in place, the cost of plans all to be covered...unlike the big spending of t's era which was NOT covered and got passed on. Top economic bodies throughout the USA supported the spending as good for the economy, good for bringing down inflation, good for employment, which is why manchin's derailment of the BBB plan saw the economic forecasters' predictions slide downwards to present a longer recovery path, higher inflation, yad yada yada.

I've personally seen the start of work (well-overdue) on bridges and roads, and they've just been putting in cable along the street to carry high-speed internet to these rural parts. Not all works can start immediately but many have. Something like this takes time, it's not a magic wand jobbie. And let's not forget the replacement of all lead-piping in communities... and the continuing returning of land-control to Native Americans

Your premise is just ridiculously wrong and I noted just one reason why it is. I don't give a shit if you're upset about being ridiculously wrong. This administration has done great in the face of the Congress and the Supreme Court the voters have given it.

You’re not alone. The polls show huge disappointment among Democrats and independents on the key issues. The smart move for Dems would be to draft Joe Manchin for 2024 but that’s not going to happen. The GOP will recapture Congress in 11 months, and Pompeo or DeSantis will move into the WH in 2025.

DeSantis is not presidential material.

Neither was Biden or Trump.

Bullshit. Beyond the age thing Biden has about the best preparation for the White House of anyone whoever has occupied it. Admittedly he left it too late to be at his personal best, but governance isn't about one person--it's about the people you gather around you to work on it.

What sort of rocks have people like you been living under? Where were you for the past forty years? How can you so blatantly lie about something like someone's past public life?

We are all indebted to you for providing comic relief. LMFAO :nana:

Fuck these Democratic losers and the crumbs they serve as success. Biden is an evil, lying piece of shit that allows 45,000 U.S. citizens to die needlessly every year to serve his corporate masters. Any Democrat who believes Biden gives a shit about you or the average working American is a fucking gullible stooge no better than a Trumper. He takes 5 MILLION DOLLARS from insurance industry then surprise, surprise he's against Medicare for All.

New study finds 45,000 deaths annually linked to lack of health coverage

Former Vice President Joe Biden suggested that he would veto the universal health-care legislation known as “Medicare for All” championed by his Democratic presidential primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders, citing costs.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has received more funds from insurance industry political committees than President Donald Trump in this 2020 election cycle.

Biden has received $5.5 million compared to Trump’s $4.6 million, according to an analysis from the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) based on figures reported by the Federal Election Commission as of Oct. 23, 2020.

STFU, campaign, win the nomination, get elected, and do better.

I'll be rooting for you.

*nods* and *chuckles*

That's like the arsonists who report fires they set or mothers who injure their babies then rush them to the hospital for praise of being good mothers. He supported the war. He's the reason we were in Afghanistan in the first place. Cleaning up the shitty mess you made after the damage has been done does not deserve praise.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a new TV with stimulus money.

They did exactly what that money was meant to do, go back into the economy and maintain its growth through purchase of products. It doesn't matter if it's a TV or a $1200 custom screwdriver with a gold handle.

But this idea that regular degular people who aren't a part of the celestial elite are supposed to not have the better of things in an intrinsically consumerist and material society? During a goddamn ongoing pandemic?

People aren't meant to sit in empty rooms looking at candles flickering after a daily grind. They're meant to live and enjoy living. Entertainment is a facet of that. Televisions are the portal to that. The access to that. Not everyone can or is meant to live like a Buddhist monk in hermit seclusion from the outside world.

by the way, most if not all TVs (flatscreens) can double as an external monitor for computers and laptops. The MacBook Pro my company gave me so I could work from home, I'm using a 43" Sceptre to mirror into. This basic shit with no smart TV functions cost me, like, $150. I got reimbursed for that but that was barely a blip on a stimulus check amount and best believe it paid off on the first day of use.

Maybe, just maybe...the people you disparage are trying to improve their lives through that use.

think about that next time. because while this administration and the president can always be criticized in order to hold them to do better for everyone, your negativity only serves and affects you.

not food...not clothes...not school supplies....

and you have zero idea or knowledge that money didn't go to any of these things, even along with new televisions. The only reason you fixate on the easy low-hanging fruit of TVs is because their boxes are bigger and is the first thing your eyes go to when you take the trash out to the curb.

Poor people aren't supposed to have nice things. Their lives should be filled with endless and pointless suffering because they chose to be poor. No fucking Christmas for you lazy little shits. Always wanting more than you deserve.
