Why Don't People "Trust The Science?" Because Scientists Are Often Caught Lying

Scientists have always been lying fucks. First they told us Gravity was real then they launched a man into space.

If you don’t like what your doctor tells you, get a second opinion. But get it from another damn doctor.

Its too bad there is no thumbs up option for this forum because this requires props. I don't get to agree with Vette very often.

Also did BusyBody die or something?

Trump threw shade at Netanyahu, and busybody’s head exploded.

One of my professors (a Computer Science researcher) laid it out plainly for me.
First off (my opening take), they aren't really lying, but they are on a career path.
[/opening take]

Because they are on a career track (somewhat like a military officer) then they
are under great pressure to produce, the publish or perish syndrome, and the
educational system (many would say flush with free government money) is
bloated with little culling of the talent which leads to a lot of lesser researcher
frantically publishing papers which may oftentimes be off the mark or unintent-
ionally erroneous and peer review devolves into more of a quid-pro-quo of self-
interested back scratching. Unfortunately, this has severe societal repercussions
because in our internet debates, everyone can find an "expert" to bolster their
own personal prejudices and political/philosophical goals.

One of the main culprits to the educational bloat and diminishing of the academic
is the newly emergent notion that everyone deserves (or has a right to) a college
degree, so universities inflate their student bodies (again, free government money)
and as such, also have to inflate their faculty which has the same diminishing effect
on their product as it has on the overall ability/intelligence of the students.

Having said that, just as it is in the general population,
some students cheat, some professors dumb-down the
curriculum and some Scientists are dishonest either out
of their basic nature or driven by fear of failure...

But I think for the most part, they're just people
complete with all of the usual human foibles and
still pretty much on a bell-curve of ability.

This is the problem with so called "science" today, it's too flush with cash. I see all the millionaire scientists driving around San Diego in their 6 figure cars, fighting each other to be the next guy to write about global warming while it's snowing in Texas. Elon Musk is a billionaire with a "B" because of his underground road thing, we already have that, it's called a tunnel you fucking shithead.

Yes, such liars....the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth. How dare they lie about these things!

Scientists used to welcome skepticism. Scientists welcomed repeated tests of their hypothesis and tweaking it if need be. Now a days science is "shut up and stop questioning me. I know more than you. Just do as I say." That's not enough for some of us. If you can't break it down to where a layman can understand it, you don't understand it yourself.

They do know more than you and they do break it down so dullards can understand. It's you and your fellow trumptards who think they know more than the people who have devoted their lives to this because you can find a handful of confirmed bias articles on google.

A lot of the "science" that is published is indeed garbage:

Half the results published in peer-reviewed scientific journals are probably wrong. John Ioannidis, now a professor of medicine at Stanford, made headlines with that claim in 2005. Since then, researchers have confirmed his skepticism by trying—and often failing—to reproduce many influential journal articles. Slowly, scientists are internalizing the lessons of this irreproducibility crisis. But what about government, which has been making policy for generations without confirming that the science behind it is valid?

Bootlickers are such a funny bunch. They can't read for comprehension. It's all about toeing the party line.

The government is politicized. Fauci is a political bureaucrat. He's a commissar in that he's policing the political messaging agenda within the NIH to achieve the policy goals of the administration while ignoring data that refutes the messaging that supports those goals.

There is no such thing as too flush with cash when it comes to science, art or exploration. That is no more real than the Jersey Devil. Now an argument can be made that knowing who is funding your work and why is something that could easily cause corruption. Facts can be twisted one way or another. I know I remember not too long ago Conservatives were trying to make the case that CO2 is good for plants ergo we should be happy about the rise in CO2. No lies were told and we can look at science since the dawn of life (or as close as we can get) to support this. And large anthropods. I personally don't want six foot long centipedes hunting me down and has anybody seen how stupid large reptiles were just a few million years back?

The fact thati its snowing in Texas is absolutely irrelevant to the conversation about global warming. Global warming is an undeniable truth at this point. There is some argument (even if it makes little sense) that it is man made. I mean if we settle with the above that CO2 is plant food wouldn't cutting down large swaths of the Amazon known as the World's Lung which is responsible for approximately 25% of Oxygen on the planet mean there is less O2 for us and fewer plants absorbing CO2? That all by itself before we start talking about the CO2 that has been sequestered in the Earth in various forms such as coal and oil be a problem?

Elon crossed the finish line on becoming a Billionaire before the underground road was even a twinkle in his eye. He just lucked into a good spot in history. Turns out being born to a VERY wealthy family, going through one of theb best schools on the planet has its benefits. I'm not saying being white comes with. . .benefits but goddamn with those advantages heading in Hulk Hogan could have become a billionaire president of the United States and nominated to the Supreme Court.

Also on a slight aside his "Tunnel" which this really doesn't quite qualify for but who cares. Traffic in that area is a fucking nightmare when there is a game and this is not only a good idea it is something we should be looking into both here and abroad. (Its past time we started investing in other countries.) to get this kind of shit in place as early as humanly possible. One of the huge problems we face is that we kinda build as we go and thus once we realize "Holy shit, there is no place to toss something" We have to get really creative.

Rightguide is vetteman, that is a parody account.

Assuming you're correct that would be Vetteman is Rightguide. Vette is an old timey poster.

I take that back. Vette has been here longer than his join by date. I don'tknow when he and I first crossed up with each other but I know he was here for the Obama years and I'm pretty sure he was around in the Bush years. I know I've been saying this alot to people. I AM NOT NEW. A bunch of us made a bet that if Trump won the election we'd leave for his term. I didn't sign on officially but I did stay true.

They only get so much say in someone trying to replicate their work. Despite the way we write the history books its rare that only one person is working in a certain direction. We like giants to the extent that we talk about how how Edison invented the light bulb. This is a great case of everybody is lying and or mistaken. The lightbulb was invented in the 1860s in Europe, Electric cars aren't new.

Some stuff cannot be broken down into pieces a layman can understand. And often times doing so can lead to false conclusions from people who don't just shut up and take you for your word. This again not discouraging people checking your work. This is saying that random Joes should not be questioning things.

The government is politicized. Fauci is a political bureaucrat. He's a commissar in that he's policing the political messaging agenda within the NIH to achieve the policy goals of the administration while ignoring data that refutes the messaging that supports those goals.

Fauci is a political bureacrat and has been involved as an advisor for every president since Ronald Reagan. If he's a mole working for the Left you guys should be terrified. WE had your patron saint install a man specifically to bring down someone like Donald Trump if the qlmost literal once in a century Pandemic decided to slap us in the face? We are Lex Luthor levels of smart. Either that or you're flat out loco. His story hasn't changed a great deal since the Trump admin either, if he was working for Biden wouldn't he be giving a vastly different tale?

This isn't saying the story hasn't changed. It has, we've only known about this virus for a couple of years and it keeps mutating. If anything he should be blamed for down playing things like Omnicron. Don't treat it like it's just in South Africa, assume that once you've identified a strain it has gone global and work from there.

That is completely true.

You cannot simply just "trust the science" as the media is perpetually telling you to do. And move right along.

Science is wrong. Science gets it wrong. Until it catches up and gets it right.

So, look, I get it - I get all the fear and the denial.

But here's the thing - YOU'RE KILLING PEOPLE!!

That's why you need to lean towards science. You need to make room for the immediacy of Now. Because there are no more rooms left in the hospital. Have a heart attack? Sorry, our beds are packed with Covid patients who continue to insist they're not one.

You cannot just stand there and go, "Nope. Not me." When you are living in a plague and fucking killing people with your non-compliance.

-It was hard enough to watch this country take itself down in the last 5-6 years. I absolutely spent anything and everything I had in effort to retain us (cuz I knew my dad was near death and then I would be completely cooked; and I am). But I will NOT stand here and entertain your fucking murderous idiocy at not receiving a goddamned jab at this point.

The PLAGUE is upon us.

Take a fucking jab for the rest of humanity. You peon.

-SCIENCE. And it's determined "absolutes". Can be fucking handled later.

Right now? Don't get IN the way of it.

PS Dinosaurs? Never. Meteors? Never. Cavemen? Never. Mesopotemia (look it up). Never.

Fucking morons. The lot of you.
