It's definitely in the realm of what is to be expected when populations don't take pandemic viruses seriously. Yes, my opinion is that we have not yet taken it seriously, otherwise we wouldn't be in this position.

I hard two month world wide lockdown was the only viable choice back at the very beginning of this pandemic. We didn't do anything near this....so, the virus has us where it wants us so to speak.

efficacy of the vaccine is strong. illness from the variant is lower so far. At best, you'll see an increase in mask requirements from place to place.

I see lots of places where the employees still need to mask up but nowhere is really enforcing it on customers around here. Which makes it funny as hell to watch people walking their dogs hundreds of feet from the next nearest human masking up while people shopping for produce are walking around maskless. I still mask up for shopping stuff but it goes on just as I get in the location and comes off as soon as I'm out.

If you refuse to wear a mask to prevent the spread of a disease that will cross the 1 million dead threshhold, most likely by 2023 give or take. The Raiders @ Browns game was also rescheduled but there is some good news coming for NFL fans. Thanks to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the NFL and the NFL Players Association are finalizing an agreement to change the Covid testing rules. No more daily testing for vaccinated players. Vaccinated players will only be tested if are symptomatic. As long as a player has been vaccinated and shows no symptoms, he won’t be subjected to testing that could sideline him if he has Covid.
