You can read it here:

It was more work than I thought than it was going to be to write this out! I have so much respect for the writers on here now.

I know there's room for improvement in that story, but I decided to publish it as-is rather than spending any more time closely studying it for more errors.

Stay tuned (if you want) for part two, where Marlowe reveals he had a similar dream :)

I'd love feedback! Now that it's published, I don't intend on revising it, and I'm aware of a few things to improve for the next time. Still, glad I got something done, which is really hard for me.

welcome, and congrats on your first story!

Since you've invited feedback, I will offer some.

First up: It's very short. I understand you're planning future chapters, but a bit more about the relationship between your two characters would be nice. Perhaps you can flesh that out in future installments.

Second, and this is a tiny, nitpick thing, keep an eye out for mistakes like this:

"Marlowe had been stroking her hair, gathering a handful of her hair. "

That sentence would read better like this: "Marlowe gathered a handful of her hair, stroking it."

Simple mistake, I make them myself. Rereading and editing really helps catch most of that.

Otherwise, we'll written. Looking forward to seeing how this story develops.

Those are good notes! Like I said, this experience caused me to really respect the work that other people put into stuff here.

I'm working on the next one now, and I think I'll actually describe stuff this time.

I decided to publish it as-is rather than spending any more time closely studying it for more errors.

I've only been writing here now for a few months, bit the first hard lesson I learned was: you can never proofread or edit too much.

I still see every glaring error I made in my first few stories when it came to grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.

One was so bad I did finally rewrite and resubmit it. And still missed a few mistakes lol.

That said, don't let the Grammar Nazis get you down. And if the heart of your story works, you'll find it can survive a few mistakes in spelling or wording.
