Maine - healthcare workers. Breaking.

Workers said it violated their religious rights; SCOTUS told them to STFU.

If you invoke 1A rights, it's federal.

Only to the extent the federal court gets to rule on it.

And SCOTUS can effectively punt that shit back to the states and tell them that's their ball of shit to deal with ... as is the case here.

No they didn't. The Supremes just told them they don't get to cut to the front of the line. The case is still working its way up the courts. It can still end up in front of the Supremes

How do religious rights even come into play here? Are these people Christian Scientists, or what? Nobody has a religious right, as such and in general terms, to tell the government to fuck off, not even if their church equates the government with Caesar or Satan.

Yes they do.

It's called the 1st amendment. :D

If that were the case, SovCits could form the First Church of Anarchism and do whatever they please. It doesn't work like that. You have to prove some actual religious principle, like Amish being conscientious objectors to the draft.

Barrett was the only one of the conservative justices who fully appreciated that a finding in favour of the applicants would have essentially freed any organization claiming to be religious, free from any regulation

And yet The Nun has supported that exact argument several times already, ruling in favor of 'religious' exemptions.

Fuck religion.

So long as they aren't harming or presenting an eminent threat to others... they can.

No you don't.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

No such qualifier exists.

If you don't have probable cause for some other crime or harm being done you and the other anti-civil rights authoritarian control freaks, can get fucking bent. :)

Not any, just most.

Awwwww civil rights got the lil Stalin wannabe upset.... LOVE to see freedom pissing off the haters. :D

Awesome. Then someone can make up a religion that says anyone who they work with has to be vaccinated. So much for state's rights then.

No, your freedom of religion doesn't allow you to control others and it was never implied or suggested anywhere.

That's your psychotic control freak showing, stop making shit up.

She’s a huge upgrade over the bimbo she replaced

Then SovCits can’t start the First Church of Anarchy. You can’t have it both ways.

I'm not trying to have it both ways.

And no amount of ascription from you will change that. :)

Keep making shit up though. You're good at that.

The government decided that the government can impose it's will upon you.

Who could have seen that coming?

In other news, rapists have decided that they can rape.

And some in Government would impose their will on you that you can't terminate a pregnancy resulting from that.

You never directly quoted me saying what you claim I said.

You're just being a flagrant liar now.

I literally quoted you saying it. It’s still there, feel free to look. This is another case where hopefully you’ll have better luck next time.
