Because revolutions are sometimes worth having but always risky. Even when the revolutionaries can be sure of winning, they can never be sure of what comes next. You take the Oath of the Tennis Court, and next thing you know Napoleon is Emperor -- is this what we had in mind?!

The danger is that much higher when you start a revolution with no clear idea of what comes next, and the only thing you have in mind is overturning the status quo.

In political terms, I would replace Jefferson's statue with Hamilton's. Jefferson's vision for America's future (a decentralized agrarian republic) was wrong, Hamilton's (a vigorous national government promoting industry) was right.
