evangelical congregations being torn apart by trumpism

.
The CUbaNTripod and other Deplorables who try to normalize the traitor in chief think they can gaslight decent people into thinking they are being extreme when they simply call it like they see it regarding the criminality and corruption surrounding the traitor in chief's private life and his "presidency".

It. Won't. Work.

Nope, it won't. And all of the vomiting on a porn story discussion board won't change that. :)

Christian conservatives have not been good at choosing political leaders. In 1980 they abandoned the most sincerely Christian president the United States has ever had to vote for a product of Hollywood who rarely attended church. In 2016 they reached even lower and supported a dishonest, foul mouthed womanizing pagan.

Christian conservatives say that they want religious freedom. They have religious freedom. No one keeps them from attending their Fundamentalist churches. No one confiscates their Bibles. No one forces them to have abortions. No one forces them to buy pornographic magazines and watch X rated movies.

They want to force their way of live on other people. They should start by trying to force their way of life on Donald Trump. He has only been to church a few times since compulsory chapel at the military school he attended.

Chuckles and good point.

Still waiting to hear which articles of faith support of Trump violates. Anyone?

Just off the top of my head, Matthew 5:40-44. Give to those in need and love thine enemy. Trump never even pays his creditors when he can help it, and he hates everyone who ever said one word against him.

That doesn't explain why I'm not a Christian if I support Trump.

That depends on whether you define "Christian" as following Christ's teachings. But you've got a point - most people who wear their Christianity on their sleeve do not fit that definition at all.

I've posted the Nicene Creed, which contains all salient aspects of Christianity one must believe to be called that name. There's nothing in there about supporting this or that politician.

Still hlding on that faith-breaching reason. I'll be here for a while.

I've already given one. There are literally thousands of other examples of him being about as un-Christian as you can get, and you know it. Of course nothing I say is going to persuade you, but that doesn't mean anything.

It's highly ironic that a group of people who spend their time judging gays, women who have abortions, trans folks and anyone else who doesn't comply with their dogma are now trying to sell us on the Nicene Creed as the litmus test for Christianity.

If only you had followed your own newly adopted standard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ithink what you are trying to say is that Trump is a sinner. I'll agree with that. So am I. If I were looking for a pastor, Trump would not be my pick.

Do you have a nominee that is free of sin?

What I'm saying is that you are a hypocrite. It's okay if it's Trump but not if they are gay/trans or someone else you disagree with. You castigate them and don't embrace them as christian. Yet you embrace Trump. Fully.

Yeah you're a peach alright.

That's not how any rational person would take it. Trump is un-Christian, which is different than someone who sins.

A Christian person who sins will seek forgiveness and not commit that sin again, not so with Trump. Trump sins on purpose and doesn't care about others.

Being a real Christian is not about "not being a sinner" (which of course is impossible - no one is perfect). It's about making your best effort to follow Christ's teachings. I defy you to give one example of Trump doing that!

I have no idea what you're talking about, and I suspect you don't either.

Let's assume for argument's sake that you're right.

What in Christianity precludes me from supporting him?

Well, one thing I liked about Trump is that he didn't persecute the Church, as Democrats have and will again.

The womanizing, the racism, the general disregard for other people and human life the lying...etc.

The fact that you have to ask is pretty scary.
