So I'm watching a buzzfeed vid and one of the gals say they have to pick an item that represents their generation's iconic style. To be honest I've never thought about it.

I mean there's a lot of clothes. Trendy to classic.

So what would each generation's iconic style be? What kind of items would they be?

The reality is that I'm not fashion forward. I wear leggings and a tank top most of the time, easily 90% - I blame having private school uniforms through 8th grade.

What the heck is a generation's iconic style?

New term: cohort.

I never knew that meant a matched set. When I think of "cohort" I think of a person.

Also, when I think of fashion I tend to think of decades as opposed to generations. And what decade in a person's life becomes the iconic representation of their generation? Teens? 20s? 50s? etc. Even the folks who grew up in the 70s eventually gave up their leisure suits and wide leg jeans - at least most of them. Ha.

Slouchy socks over jeans.
Jeans cuffed and rolled.
Mini skirts with leggings.
Granny boots.
Lace gloves.

I think you'll find a cohort is 480 Roman soldiers if my classics teaching at school was worth anything

I thought your generation went for bouffant hair and shoulder pads but I might be off by twenty years idfk :D

Learn something new every day.

I think that was the 80s wasn't it? Or was that the 90s? Hell if it was the 90s, I was in my 20s - between college and bullshit I was pretty preoccupied. :D

So you're younger than my Mum :D

I knew that

Polos and Members Only jackets. Nike Oceanas. I straddled the transition from Saddleman's and 501s and stuck to the boot-cut Saddleman's. Probably why I like Wranglers these days. Dolphin shorts for running.

I was hatched at the end of 1963 so I'm kinda in between generations. I guess late 70s.... polyester pants, long hair, terrible music, shitty cars.

Shoulder pads, Doc Martins, and big hair!

Shoulder pads, Doc Martins, big hair, distressed jeans, big clunky jewelry, everything seemed so baggy.. not sure why we were hiding our bodies. I’m probably blocking out a few things
