Every wonder about how foods came to be? I mean who thought, let’s grind up peanuts until it’s all smooth and then smear it on bread? And chunky, was that the result of a cost savings initiative or just a piss poor peanut grinder? How long did it take for someone to think, “hey, let’s add some fruit to this”?

Were food “inventors” the Elon Musk of their day?

PBJ - any other alteration besides PB on both sides and grape jelly added to the mix are just poor imitations for PBJ. PB on just one side? Next I’ll read you drink decaf coffee…

I grew up with Peanut butter, Jelly, and butter.

I've had PBJ's made that way as well as substituting honey butter for the jam or jelly.

But my go-to PBJ has become peanut butter with strawberry-jalapeño jam. It's delicious, just the barest hint of spice in it.

Pre-Diabetes, I'd tried many flavored honey butters/honey period. YUM!!

Honey butter is amazing on toast all by itself though.

*pfft*

These anti-Cagers. They know not of what they speak. :p

Exactly!

So no one puts PB on both, adds jam to one, and then sandwiches them together? Really? I'm the only one??

Definitely not. Nope. I use the natural stuff though, like two ingredient stuff. Why does peanut butter have so many ingredients? I can get my refined sugars from the jelly damnit.

Just as a side note regarding the powdered peanut butter that you can purchase and either mix at home or put in a smoothie. I won't be doing that again. :( Let's just say really bad gastrointestinal distress and leave it at that.

I don’t eat peanut butter. Almonds are my thing. I buy the raw nuts, soak, dehydrate, then cream into butter.

I feel like I have no place in this conversation. 😂

Egad.

What an abomination.

I thought it best to allow peanut butter to consume all the oxygen it needed, seems as there was a lot of pent up PB thoughts that needed a safe space to be shared.

The term “safe space” , I love the concept but I wonder how safe is safe. Is safe free from hearing a negative response, is safe where you will hear truth and accept it, is safe where you find comfort and warmth and want to hear those things that make you feel better. And depending on what’s shared, isn’t there a societal obligation to break the bubble?

Oh how I long for the peanut butter days of yore….

Safe Spaces, as defined by me, are places for people to hide that can’t debate intelligently, base their beliefs on feelings over facts and like to “live their truth” rather than deal with reality.

It’s very unhealthy, in my opinion, and leads to a disfunctional society where people can’t even talk to each other without freaking out.

I’ve discovered old Dick Cavett interviews on YouTube lately and it’s crazy to see how people used to talk to each other, even when they totally disagree on a topic, but they can still maintain composure and listen to each other.

We’re in a bad place right now. I think I’ll hide under some blankets. :D

I like the idea of having a safe space to speak my mind, feel how I am feeling - without judgment. And to some degree, I think I have that in 1:1 settings with friends and loved ones.

But Orchidea and Hotwords are right. They are being used as places for single-focused individuals to propagate the same rhetoric over and over for the purpose of patting themselves on the back.

I'm thinking of moving to a cave and/or island. I'm in the processes of selecting a fine male species for company and "other" activities. Care to join me, HW? :D

I think people that are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, LGBTQ, members of AA and Alanon might disagree with that up there.
These people depend on a safe space that’s inclusive, accepting and nonjudgmental. That’s their support system.
I can’t say for all, but I’m not sure how well breaking the bubbles goes in these kind of groups.
Everyone should be allowed some sort of safe space - each of us has a story and its not my job to play judge/jury telling someone what’s what.

That was said sweet and not criticizing anyone’s comments above. 💜

I agree with that. I’m thinking of a safe space as more of a place where people hide from reality, what you’re talking about is a place to deal with reality. I’m 100% for that. :)
