“Hammered – an Ode to Mickey Spillane” Story Event: Official Support Thread

I like a saying ascribed to President Lincoln, I'm as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Well, I don't know if Honest Abe created that, but I know it is an old chestnut. Other old chestnuts are, "Busier than a cat in a litter box." and "Lower than a snake's belly in a wagon wheel rut.

And speaking of chestnuts:

What do you have if you have two nuts on the wall?
Walnuts.

What do you have if your have two nuts on your chest?
Chestnuts

Getting the rhythm of the joke yet?

Okay, what do you have if you have two nuts on your chin?

Wait for it...

A cock in your mouth.

Tee hee.

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Have you tried the buffet?

It's an anthology, not a contest. No judging, no winners, no prizes. Just a bunch of stories with a common theme.

Ah. Well, there ya have it. Reading comprehension apparently isn't my strongest suit. ;)

I guess more specifically, at some point from the first time I read the announcement last year till now I had it changed in my head that it was a contest. Oh, well.

Opening paragraph for a story I'll most likely never write.

I’m Friday, Joe Friday, it was Wednesday, I was working the day watch out of central. My partner’s Frank Thursday, we were working with Alexandra Monday, our trio being involved in an investigation of an international jewel thief, and our only suspect was a movie star, Tuesday Weld. There was a jewelry show at the Sunday Institute for Performing Arts this Saturday. All this became quite confusing for a poor flatfoot with a penchant for internal dialog. It was one of those WTF moments when the thought dawned in my head, we’d covered every day of the week.

I’ll be sure to make a submission for this, as part of my own series of stories. I’ve been writing the ‘Iron Crowbar’ hardcore Police procedurals here for years now, so check out my bio and stories pages.

Opening paragraph from Raymond Chandler story The Little Sister (1949)

“The pebbled glass door panel is lettered in flaked black paint: “Philip Marlowe . . . Investigations.” It is a reasonably shabby door at the end of a reasonably shabby corridor in the sort of building that was new about the year the all-tile bathroom became the basis of civilization. The door is locked, but next to it is another door with the same legend which is not locked. Come on in—there’s nobody in here but me and a big bluebottle fly. But not if you’re from Manhattan, Kansas.”

The man knew how to start a story. What's next? Why are you not welcome if your from Manhattan, Kansas?

It would be worthwhile to add a link to your signature. :)

Maybe this is already in the thread, but I haven't seen it. Have folks started to think about which category?

I've got a PI who has sex with three different woman, various acts and kinks, who receives a naked Asian massage that turns into sex, and many other acts throughout. Too bad there isn't an "Everything!" category.

Plus, it starts with a slaughter, and there are killings and fights the entire story.

So, where are people thinking about posting?

Asking for a friend :)

I'm working on 3 new crime/detective stories; bdsm, group sex, noncon.

Two of them may go to this event, if they get posted throughout September.

One of them will be for Halloween (masks theme).

I don't have any of that, and I'm loath to place it into EC. Maybe I'll have to add some serious kink into a scene. Maybe his investigation leads to a BDSM club...

Wait till it's written then decide, but don't write of EC just because some say it's a dead zone, coz it's not always. Sometimes it what you have when nothing else fits.

Yeah, I've read that too, but my two highest rated stories are in EC. But they were both love stories. However, I always write love stories no matter what the category, so I have no idea.

If mine were to get completed, it would go into BDSM. I've been itching to write another BDSM story for a while.

But it very likely will not get completed. I have too many other stories on my plate. I've been more productive than usual the last four months and I want to stay on track with what I've already got, including my Halloween story, the first draft of which is done but which needs editing.

I think my story is out of control. I am now north of 20,000 words (the longest I have ever written that was not a multi-part) and I'm just getting into the meat of the mystery/murder.

I'm trying to decide if I should perform a few writing tricks and wrap it up fast and quick (like a TV show where the mystery is too complex going into Act IV and they just throw some "wham-bam-thank you-ma'am" ending to wrap it up, or play it out.

Hopefully the characters will tell me what to do.

I'm digging the yarn, though.

Mine clocked in at 25k words. I wouldn't worry about it. :)

4. Please use “Hammered – an Ode to Mickey Spillane” as a story tag

Just a quick note on this rule point. Hyphens are not allowed in story tags. I had to put in Hammered an Ode to Mickey Spillane instead.

First I have to decide on the outline I'm working from. I have three that will work, all three a female private detective in 40s. Their will be some sex, not a central point of the story, though and while it won't be plan jane fucking, not sure the kink is going to drive me to a category.

I post all my stories in the Novels and Novellas category, and I’ll put my contribution to this there, also. Mine is going to be a multi-part, as well.

If you have multiple sex situations, you can put it in Erotic Couplings, which covers a lot of bases.

I'm close to halfway done on my story for the contest. The tale is longer than I expected, will have less sex than I want (though maybe I can adjust a bit on the sex part) and I've moved though it faster than I expected.

However, when do we post the stories, how do que the site and the reader it's for the Ode to Mickey Spillane event?

The only thing like this I've done at Literotica before was the Halloween contest years and years ago. I don't know, four or five years back.

See Post #1 for da instructions, boss ;).

A bad girl's never bad, she's always better! It's noir, Millie, gotta stay in character ;).

I stared at the Remington. It mocked me back, just giving me that multi toothed metallic grin that whispered "You have no fucking idea, do you?"

'This was a waste of time.' I thought as I poured yet another shot of cheap hooch into a cracked glass. Draining the drink, I grabbed my coat and jammed my fedora on my head.

"Well, better go earn my dollar a day plus expenses. And you can meet your cousin, asshole." I pulled my pistol out of my jacket and unloaded three Remington hollow points into the typewriter. It was a waste of good lead, but it made me feel better about not getting a noir story written.

I closed the office door behind me and trudged down the corridor towards the stairs. Curious heads had poked out of their little boxes, probably wondering who had taken a shot at me this time.

Nancy, a big titted peroxide blond receptionist asked if everything was all right.

"Of course. Going to the bar for a bourbon, a scotch, and a beer. Come on, I'll buy you a drink."

She looked nervously over her shoulder at the office, then smiled. "Sure, Mister Nail. Just let me get my coat."

I shrugged. "Ok, but you're not going to have it on long. There's a story to write and I need inspiration. And you have the credentials to help."

She giggled nervously and just followed. I like that in a woman.
