It seems our staunchest allies got caught as flat footed as the US did. Did they not have their own means of gathering intelligence over there? Considering their smaller presence I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they were counting on the US for that information. That will all come out eventually, the citizens and on the ground military in the UK are as pissed as ours.
The other item that will come out eventually is the fact that Biden was handed an exit plan by the outgoing Trump administration. The details of that plan haven't come out yet, but that too will be remedied in time. The word on the street is that under that plan the exit was contingent on certain benchmarks that the Taliban had to meet. And that the exit was initiated without regard to those benchmarks. Again, that will eventually all come out.
Even Biden's usual allies in the press are turning on him regarding this debacle. And our allies are having to reevaluate how much they can rely on the US in a pinch. This is going to have severe consequences in the far east. The next few years are gong to be very dangerous.
