That would double our current daily rate. I guess if you don't consider that increase as a spike, you'd be correct. But your comment is about the "total scope", which not the same perspective.
Delta is a recent parameter, as are vaccinated people. That makes comparisons between last year and this year a lot more suspicious to accept.
