Not second guessing because everyone had to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment ... but there was a lot less Covid out there a year ago when the Games were supposed to be held originally. They've delayed it right into the teeth of the Delta variant.
I see little chance they're going to be able to pull this off, and I see no reason at all for purely ceremonial stuff like the opening and closing ceremonies.

The swimming is awesome & look forward to the diving..So glad the women's soccer team got the win today and also watched the cycling, wooooo..that was brutal, & the men's beach volleyball.I have watched it all so far as I can catch it at anytime now & makes it easy compared to just a few years ago.Always look forward to the games..Thank you for starting this thread☺

Yeah - I saw the cycling too. It was brutal, but at least there were actually fans in attendance for that one...

Re the women's cycling, I don't think I've ever seen an entire peloton completely lose track of a breakaway before. There wasn't a single person going, "Huh, six people rode off ahead of us at the start of the race and we've only come across five of them, so maybe we should do something?"

USA physio techniques aren’t allowed in the Village.
Yeah, I'm torn between heaping praise on the Austrian, and heaping derision on the peloton.
I'm gonna go with giving a ton of praise to the Austrian for dominating the rest of the field by herself.
