Racism is so american that whenyou protest it people think you're protesting america.

The thing about the USA is 1) We took a particularly bizarre route to fighting it, by letting the bad guys pretend they won the Civil War for 150 years or so, and 2) Here as everywhere, we're prone to dumping our problems out on the couch of the world for all to see. Half a century of the Republicans' Southern strategy hasn't helped either.
 
I've been around, America is in the bush league of racism.
There are lots of places that would say we aren't racist enough.
Doesn't excuse how shitty we can be tho.

The traitorous South knew they had had their collective asses kicked after the Civil War. The "Lost Cause" revisionist horseshit didn't take root in Murica until Harry Truman integrated the armed forces by administrative fiat in 1948.

That action spawned the short-lived Dixiecrat party, the ultra-right wing fringe of conservative Democrats who largely due to the "safe spaces" of the Republican party in 1980 (the post Roe v. Wade 'Reagan makeover'), then the Tea Party astroturf of 2010 and to the present day White Nationalism insurrectionists nurtured and succored by the former guy.

Funny thing is, I know a number of Africans from Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, etc. and they're all very successful here, and their kids are as smart as whips. Then again, the mom and dad (and there are always a mom and a dad) value work, family and education. Racism just doesn't work on them at all.

Oh, and they want nothing to do with African-Americans.
