What will happen to north american auto production?

Neil Young is Canadian…but I like where you’re going with this…

Whatever, dude.
I'ma keep on rockin in the free world while you commies lick trump's ass as he blows up the record breaking economy Biden just handed him.

Ok, I'm out!
Got real work to do today cleaning up a spill I made about a week ago down at the nuclear waste disposal plant I work at - can't fuck around with you idjiots anymore although this was fun.

To my friends on the left who may happen to come across this thread - do you really, Really, REALLY REALLY think I'm as dumb as these fuckers?
I entertained myself for close to an hour just now just bullshitting. The truth of the matter is that it is hard to find many things, especially cars, only American made. One of the idiots did take the bait and called me out on Levi's. Kudos to you, Lance! Even a stopped clock, amirite? But if cars are hard to be all American made, clothes are even harder.
Anyway, I went a long, long way to sneak in a "Rockin in the Free World" joke to make the point that trump tariffs are going to hurt practically every industry - but it was worth it on my end to see trumpers claim they buy cars for their economic value (no shit!) and miss totally that Harley's also are no longer really American made (fyi - I've never been on one) and that Shania is Canadian - none of them picked that up although I was of the belief that that was as well known as Neil Young being Canadian as well. Oh, well, trumpers can't pick up everything. Bn2f out!

Well Honda just announced they are leaving Meheco and tariffs wernt even in effect yet! Whatch who else comes back!🍿🏀🍿🏀

No tariffs on japan or korea yet, so today they are winning.

Of course that will change daily with Pres Attention Whore, Comander Chaos. :)

The uncertainty sewn by Trumpsputin is the real crime against the people.

Not much better of a time to buy a Kia or hyundai or a toyota

I drive a Ford Mustang. Love it. My jeans are Levi's. Love them too. No foreign made pussy Jordache has ever touched this fine ass.
When I get on a bike - it's strictly HD. My cockclit is certified Grade A American beef. You guys go f'in eat your sushi with wagyu. I only eat burgers.
Cry all you want on my gas guzzling, 0-60 in 6 seconds American muscle V-6, you tree huggers. I am and will always be more American than any of you crying croc tears on the percentages of where a car is made while you put-put around in a Hitler VW. I'm so old skool American that I don't watch any news organizations that are foreign owned by crusty Australians and 911 causing Saudi's! I don't go to social platforms owned by Nazi's that escaped to South Africa. I love this country and if I want the news then I stick in an old VCR tape and watch whatever Walter Cronkite has to say rather than have my ears polluted with foreign news. BY every single measure you guys are a joke and traitors against this country! Unless JoePep is here on this thread, then I wish that none of your filthy foreign Irish, Italian, German parents had ever come over here to ruin the American mix. GTFOH alls of yalls!

(haha :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: sometimes I even crack myself up!)
My Porsche will hit 60 in 3.5s. Almost twice as fast as your pile of shit ford. American cars suck. Chevy trucks are the only American made vehicle worth a damn. Shit, my wife’s Audi is faster.

That January post seems like decades ago. I can’t recall the context but I want to think that I was pointing out that businesses outsource.

I saw something today in Automotive News suggesting that tariffs on Feb 1 will take about a week to shut down auto production in North America.

Mexico-USA-Canada is completely integrated as a production loop, so it would take what… 2 years plus?…to build all North American cars in the USA.

I think most people outside the Butters Retard Club here on Lit ignore a lot of Trump’s posturing… but what do you think will happen?
It will all be sorted out before then. As for today, the Big 3 have over 100 days inventory sitting on dealers lots with GM and Ford approaching 180 days of inventory. As could be expected Toyota, Honda, and Subaru are running the tightest supplies. Some dealers have unsold 2023 models on their lots!!!!!

I suspect that Canada's problems will end shortly after your next election. Mexico is longer term fixer upper.

I think the USA loses in this one.

Canada will diversify.

The EU is a larger market than the usa and there’s a free trade agreement in place.

And there’s China.

USA will lose their most desirable trading status in the G20.

Other relationships will grow.

Trust matters.

Trump has backed down again for another 30 days on autos.

Of course, the auto industry wont change in 30 days, so Trump has to slow walk his ego retreat.

Appeasing Russia has clouded the bastard’s wee brain.

Lol

While everyone wonders what is more "American," a Ford built in a Mexican factory or a Hyundai built in an Alabama factory, the Chinese manufacturers will pick up the pieces after the collapse of the North American auto manufacturing industry.

Theres no such thing as an American car …

since 1984 there are Cars Built In North America and Elsewhere.

Parts can cross borders up to 8 times in north american assembly.

So 25% x 8 tariffs is Chapter 11, like a Trump Casino.

Because their Margins arent 25% let alone 25% x 8

And it would take 4-10 years to change it.

So the whole idea is either:

A) Retarded

Or

B) Russian meat puppetry to destroy our way of life

Or

A & B

Of course they will.

"Why is that?" He asks rhetorically.

Because they are of such superior quality. [/sarcasm]

And while the 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods are transient the 20% (for now) tariffs on Chinese autos (not counting EV's which are much higher) are here for well into the foreseeable future.

Are used car price going to go up because of the tariffs.

I am looking at a 2002 kompressor but can't pull the trigger.

People used to say Japanese electronics were inferior…. J.A. Pan Company Junk.

Chinese EV’s are already outselling Tesla throughout Asia….and apparently theyre pretty good.

If not for protection for the junk made in the USA, the big3 would already be dead.

Btw, honda’s and toyota’s plants in ontario routinely rank above their japanese facilities.

Same with Stellantis in Brampton and Ford in Oakville

US workers are fat opioid addicts with red hats. :)

So they’ll modify supply lines and facilities if they have to in order to build us inventory in the us…it will take years and cost a ton and will likely just kill jobs.

Its all stupid. Trump Steaks & Vodka!

There was a time when Japanese cars were inexpensive and cheaply made. Manufacturers in other countries got fat and lazy and now . . . can you say "Lexus"?

Stick with aspiring to write.
But seriously, considering that the Chinese have been "stealing" American jobs (according to President Trump) by being more efficient, lower cost producers, what makes you think they won't be selling luxury automobiles on the high street some day? They are making computers and Moon landers and solar panels and bullet trains and . . .

Of course, they might collapse like the Soviet Union did, who can foretell the future?

But you do sound a lot like someone sixty years ago saying the Japanese would never catch up with Europe and America.
