San Jose is on its way to becoming the first city in the nation to require gun owners to carry liability insurance and pay the city a fee to spare taxpayers the financial toll of gun violence.

This particular gun control measure has never been tried before so it’s stirring up a lot of buzz across the nation.

Mayor Sam Liccardo (D) praised the passage of new gun controls while admitting they will not prevent mass shootings.

Lets call it what it really is, mandatory gun registration, so the liberal gestapo knows exactly who has what guns and where, so they know who's doors to knock down when the decide to confiscate them.

Hitler did that in the 30's, that worked out well!!!

Just ask the Jews.

Lots of reasons the proposal will go nowhere.
1. It imposes a tax (a per gun annual “user fee”) on a right that is explicitly enumerated in the Constitution. Legal? The City Attorney is researching)
2. It mandates gun owners to purchase liability insurance. Good luck getting that through SCOTUS
3. It’s unclear if insurance companies will even offer the desired coverage. If they do, at what cost? Will all companies offer it? Or will gun owners need to switch homeowners insurance companies from a low cost insurer that doesn’t offer it to a high cost insurer that does.
4. Enforcement will only happen during police encounters. Minorities and low income residents are disproportionately represented in police encounters. The social justice advocates are jumping all over that.

This just another case of well-intentioned liberals who know nothing about guns or existing gun laws trying to exploit a mass shooting that happened in San Jose last month. They don’t really care that it won’t work. They just want to show they care by “doing something.”

Well, certainly they should do something, and maybe this will work. It's a much better response to mass shootings than "thoughts and prayers," at any rate.

Be serious. Do mass shooters check their homeowners insurance policies before pulling the trigger? Homeowners insurance covering accidental harm prevents mass shootings? Ok.
 
So your hobby becomes more expensive. How is that disarming, or violating the Constitution?

I’ve seen gun owners on this board complain about the rising cost of ammo, gun safes and range fees. But the Second Amendment doesn’t say that guns need to be affordable. It does say that armed citizens need to be regulated.
