Texas AG Says Trump Would've 'Lost' State If It Hadn't Blocked Mail-in Ballots Applications Being Sent Out

Newsweek on MSN.com|2 hours ago

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, said former President Donald Trump would have lost in Texas in the 2020 election if his office had not successfully blocked counties from mailing out applications for mail-in ballots to all registered voters.

Yes if illegal ballots were counted Trump would have lost. Thank you Private Dope. Thanks for misquoting the AG in your title.

"If we'd lost Harris County—Trump won by 620,000 votes in Texas. Harris County mail-in ballots that they wanted to send out were 2.5 million, those were all illegal and we were able to stop every one of them,"

Harris County, home to the city of Houston, wanted to mail out applications for mail-in ballots to its approximately 2.4 million registered voters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the conservative Texas Supreme Court blocked the county from doing so after it faced litigation from Paxton's office.

So it was the state supreme court not the AG who stopped those illegal votes from being counted.

Somebody want to tell WrongTurd how courts gets involved in things?

Does anyone want to tell JustAnotherOrifice what courts do with a legal complaint?

Had the applications/notices been sent out, filled out and returned, officials would have had time to verify eligibility, making the ballots legal.

Preventing the sending of the applications/notices is suppression.

It's been said many times by GOP JackWads like Gingrich that if more people vote, the GOP loses. Their whole schtick is to make sure less people vote.

.
Democrats facilitate the ability of citizens to vote.

Republicans obstruct the ability of citizens to vote.

It's hard to imagine Trump losing Texas, even if the votes at issue here had all gone for Biden.

Every legal voter in the state was subject to the rules which provided many ways to vote. If Biden voters were too lazy or too stupid to vote, it’s best they stayed on the couch.

Illegal votes disenfranchise those of lawful voters.

We are not talking about illegal votes. We are talking about "mailing out applications for mail-in ballots to all registered voters." That's what Paxton stopped, and it did not stop illegal votes.

Save your breath. The righties are convinced there's a vast conspiracy to stuff ballot boxes with illegal votes, and the absolute dearth of any evidence to that end doesn't matter at all. Why? Because they just can't stand the idea that America really did want to dump Trump.

To ensure the legality of the election.

Trump lost in court in just about every legal jurisdiction he ran to. Should we assume that considering your faith in the Texas courts that you have similar faith in the many other courts that rejected Trump's challenges. :)

sending out applications in bulk = solicitation

Requesting an application is one on one voter responsibility not state government responsibility. Requesting an application is just that, an application, it's a request for special dispensation from normal voting access and not a substitution for voting in general. Only the left would call this voter suppression. Dems can't win unless they cheat!!

When you get a reminder in the mail to renew your license plates, is that a solicitation to do something illegal?

Your property taxes, water or electric bill?

That's all this was intended to be. A reminder to vote or request an absentee ballot.

This is begging the question. There's no particular reason why this should be the case. There are all sorts of democracies where voter registration is automatic above a certain age, including Israel, the favorite country of so many American conservatives.
