Portland Mayor Plans To Crack Down On Antifa Before It Gets Out Of Hand

PORTLAND, OR—In a startling press conference this week, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced he will be cracking down on Antifa rioters before things get out of hand and they start doing some real damage.

"This Antifa group is starting to worry me," said Wheeler while standing in front of the smoldering remains of downtown Portland. "I think it's time to start arresting these people before they take to the streets and start damaging property and terrorizing people. If we don't do something soon, it might get ugly."

Reporters pressed Wheeler to explain why he had taken the side of the fascists, considering Antifa means "anti-fascist" which means anyone who opposes them is a fascist.

"Yes, this is a disturbing thought," replied Wheeler. "It bothers me to consider that I may be a fascist now. I think the answer is to oppose Antifa with our cherished progressive values like love, tolerance, and diversity. And gulags."

It's Charlottesville, Virginia, and the truth of the matter was that there were as many out-of-town leftists (which are the closest that can be called Antifa) in on that as white nationalists. The white nationalists were most of the ones who came to fight, but another truth of the matter was the white nationalists had a protest permit to use what was then Lee Park (although it was dumb of the C-ville city council to give them a permit) and the protestors on the left not only didn't have an assembly permit but they were the ones who started the rioting by blocking access to the park the white nationalists had a permit to use. I live in Charlottesville--none of the outsiders were welcome. And the mayor was an ass to dare the white nationalists to come.

I was in Portland a couple of years ago for one of the riots where there were fires, break-ins, and looting downtown (I was in the center of it but in a high-rise hotel). The media at the time said those were leftist demonstrators. Whoever they were, no, I don't support rioting, arson, or looting by any of them, left or right.
