The first part of her shenanigans worked as planned, but all the knob-gobbling in the world couldn't get the Murdochs to let Hegseth take over Carlson's show. They gave the show instead to an equally clueless guy (Jesse Watters) and Hegseth's wife buttered up Orange Julius Caesar and convinced His Majesty was the perfect fit for DoD. Always good to have a backup plan!
