Conspiracy theories about Texas' weather crisis are running rampant with a boost from right-wing media

"But while Texans sought heat and shelter, another problem emerged online. Conspiracy theories of outlandish proportions spread in far-right online spaces, including Telegram channels run by promoters of QAnon, the baseless far-right conspiracy theory alleging the existence of a "deep state" cabal of human traffickers made up of Democrats and celebrities.

The claims included the false allegations that the snow in Texas was fake and somehow engineered by President Joe Biden and that Bill Gates "blocking the sun" caused the bizarre weather."

"In addition to conspiracy theorists on social media, traditional right-wing media outlets are promoting misinformation about the cause of the storm, blaming green energy."

"A fringe far-right conspiracy theory claiming that Bill Gates is trying to "block the sun," loosely based on Gates donating money to a Harvard climate experiment called SCoPEx, has been reimagined by climate-change deniers in light of the Texas catastrophe.

One Telegram channel falsely purporting to be Thomas McInerney, a conspiracy theorist and retired United States Air Force general, referenced the bogus claim in a Thursday message to 164,460 subscribers. The post, which was forwarded to other channels and viewed more than 150,000 times, falsely claimed that the situation in Texas "was a planned attack." McInerney, a Trump supporter, has previously pushed the claim that COVID-19 was a "biological attack," but Defense News has reported that the account does not belong to the retired general."

Unity? How can there ever be unity with stupid? Why should I lower myself to theirs for unity?

Funny stuff.

My favorite story is, "mini nukes" brought down the twin Towers... "There were no planes."

If anyone should be accused of 'blocking the Sun', it should be nuitball Musk and his billion strong satellite ISP shield.

Great Jewish Lasers From Outerspace!

These type of whackadoodle conspiracy theories and nonsensical connections have been around for a long time now. They used to be on display in tabloid rags by the cash register, in the grocery stores. How many people have had alien babies by now?

Now though, these outlandish stories are coming to you via cable television, under the guise of ‘news’, and the internet.

What is kinda surprising is that despite the media that delivers this malarkey evolving, those that consume this garbage are devolving, into gullible sheep. Not only are they believers, but, perhaps bolstered by their growing numbers and able to easily identify their counterparts by their red ball caps, they eat this shit up without reservation, go back for seconds, then go about spreading the make-believe like gospel.

Some of them even get elected to public office.... a prime example of the dire state of education in the US.

Many of them, unfortuantely, still post on these forums. (HELLO 'Boomer, 'or whatever Dmitri's latest username is...)

I have not glanced at any of Rupert Murdoch's tabloids, in ages.
Are they still occupying space on the magaine racks ?

Shopping during the pandemic discourages touching, and the impatience
of shoppers does not allow for lounging near the super market magazines.
