4 in Snow Minimum here in Lufkin

5 Deg. F

More Snow , Sleet & Freezing rain on the way.

It's going to get bad...

It actually snowed in Houston and is 18 degrees this morning.

I just have to ask, where is this global warming that they speak of?:mad::D:devil:

Talk about hardship, I was not able wear shorts outside today.

Only four inches?

It never snows here and now we have more than a foot with more coming in late tonight and early tomorrow. I'll barely get dug out before I have to turn around and do it again. I think I'm finally going to break that snowblower out of the box and assemble it.

The cost of making infrastructure snow and ice proof when snow and ice are a rarity is difficult to justify.

Our local wind turbines, sited offshore in the North Sea, are protected against salt, snow, and freezing rain -at an increased cost.

Our power lines are still vulnerable to ice storms which can short out high voltage lines. But ice storms are very rare in the UK.

^^^We all knew it was just a matter of time as to when the first idiot would appear to confuse weather extremes with the overall trend of global warming.
looks like that one beat her to it

doesn't matter how many times it's explained to them, they don't get the correlation between warming and weather extremities

One of the predicted impacts of climate change is a weakening of the Jet Stream, which among other things usually prevents Canadian air from dropping down into San Antonio.

I have been without power for almost 48 hours in the winter before, so I am not among those poking fun at Texans today, even if their leaders traditionally have not shown that sort of charity to people in trouble in other states.

Texas to Texans ,.... fuck off and pay up.

Texas Agency Orders Energy Price Hike While Millions Go Without Power

"Energy prices should reflect scarcity of the supply," an emergency order from the Public Utility Commission of Texas said

Apparently the PUC doesn't know the difference between supply and demand. Is it really a scarcity of supply or a massive increase in demand? Bottom line is it's basically state-sponsored price gouging.

And then there is always someone who confuses climate change with things just happen.
