Unlike Summer of Rage that lasted for months, there have been no follow-on protests post-Jan 6. Even with inauguration and impeachment show trial. Yet DC continues to be barricaded/fenced, with guardsmen still here. Why?

My best guess is most of them realized at some level they had been had by trump and q anon and Alex Jones and fox and aon and on and on. And figured out quickly they were in serious trouble with nobody coming to bail them out.

They saw the capital attack and for a second thought whatever cockamamie prophecy they had glommed onto was going come to pass. Then the house and the senate came back and finished their job of certifying the election, trump finally admitted defeat and he helped no one on his way out.

They had been Given a platform and a leader willing to egg on and accept even their craziest beliefs. Now they have nothing.
