Persistant, Abusive Trolls?

Does Literotica have a mechanism for dealing with persistent, abusive trolls, other than the 'report' function in the comment mechanism?

I've used that hundreds of times at this point, in dealing with a single, abusive stalker/troll. Said individual is not a Literotica contributor/author - just an abuser.

There does not seem to be any moderation, at least as a consequence of using the embedded 'report' function.

How do others handle this kind of abuse?

Given that they're cowards who comment anonymously, there doesn't seem to be. Incels and the Nazi-adjacent tend to make up 99% of their ranks, they're terrified of being identified.

Delete their comments, don't give them a platform.

I've turned off anonymous comments, because some of the comments have been beyond sickening, and my other readers don't need that illness in their lives.

Deprive them. Readers who care will find a way to let you know they appreciate your work.

The current trend from the socialist takeover in the USA and around the world is to defame anyone that disagrees. Call them a name like a "troll" and have them banned. Eventually you will be able to do away with freedom of speech all together but for now banning people seems the best way to silence that lambs.

Reported.

Wow, hundreds of times? Usually just ignoring them works well. I used to make the mistake of trying to rebut them, which just encourages more of the same behavior. Not responding once - or maybe twice - and they don't get their "fix." They are looking for evidence that they are getting under your skin.

If you hold the |ctrl| the |$4| and the |%5| key down simultaneously while holding the cursor over the offending remark the proprietary software used here will send 45,000,000 volts through the internet and fry the miscreant's device. Because the burst only lasts 0.00005 seconds the nefarious user will not be injured.

See? Now she thinks you proved her point.

Who cares. She's a troll from the Political Board trying to flow out into the rest of the discussion board, which is the opposite of what the site was doing--isolating the political stuff--by instituting the Political Board. I assume Laurel and Manu want to know what she's up to.

26?

Fuggedaboudem.

Not worth the time.

Yep - none other... I understand this cretin is infamous here. It's difficult to understand why site administration doesn't give this moron the boot. It isn't a contributor, it adds no value, and represents only an ongoing nuisance and detraction.

People who leave comments are now Nazi's and people who remove them are socialists?

grow up, and try going ten seconds in your life without making something about politics.

Trolls have existed in one form or another since there was something to troll, and the internet is the perfect platform for their hate. Someone dropping nastiness on a story because their life sucks and they're mean spirited has nothing to do with politics.

But I am tempted to use the term 'Karen' to describe this thread.

Yeah, trolls are like misbehaving children who act out to get attention, even if its bad attention. Any reaction gives them a sense of accomplishment. My way of dealing with them is not to, I just leave the comment be rather than delete it and think it got under my skin.

If nothing else its funny when on occasions other people in the comments section attack them or call out their stupidity.

There's enough real issues going on in life these days to care about a dingbat spouting crap over a story.

I'd never heard of it before. Checked a couple of your stories for comments. Doink was pretty obvious.

Booted? Hasn't really broken any rules that I can see. There is no rule here that says a member has to add value.

'Crap over a story'? I wouldn't object. But attacks on me - nothing about the story?. That is deleted straight away.

I would think that if the trolls have a choice between their masterpiece dump being left there, preserved for all time, or disappear, 150 percent of the time they'd choose to have it left there. So, I often just delete it and move on. It no longer bothers me or is there to titillate them over their power to force me to leave it there. And if they do it again, I just delete it and move on. In discussions about it, I'd think the trolls would come up with all sorts of reasons to leave their fabulous work festering there--like saying those who would delete it are cowards and have let the troll get to them. Being manipulated to leave it there is just as much letting the troll get to them and control them (as is complaining about it on the discussion board rather than just wiping it out and moving on).

Speaking as someone whose fictional universe has been decried because all slavery is an affront to human rights and I should not be allowed to write about it. I usually lead with a definition of "fictional." Followed by a discussion of George Santayana. Finally, if the are still around, I advise them that having worked over 20 years in the criminal justice system, my fictional system of penal slavery is probably better than the current reality.

Not a lot you can do about people who are going to skim till offended and start bleating.

Its like the Amazon reviewer whose one star reviews always start, "this is the X (author is up to 14 I think) book I have bought from this writer and they all suck."

I blocked Anon comments after year 1 on here. It has gained me a few one-bombers but I'd rather that than deal with the rantings of people with more than the usual quota of thumbs.
