Wouldn't it make more sense to carry a handkerchief and hold it up to one's nose and mouth when one is about to sneeze or cough or when in close proximity to others rather than wear a mask all the time over one's breathing organs? This is what people did up until a couple of generations ago.
This would seem to make a lot more sense, cause less oxygen deprivation and short and long term health issues caused by masks, avoid the false sense of security that people seem to get from masks, and be just as effective (or just as ineffective). It would also be a lot less stupid.
