As you might expect given that I am posting here, I have always been a proponent of liberal hippy pro sex ethics, and it is easy to see why someone would think the child exploitation Kristoff describes is in part the result of such sexual liberation (old term!) I am inclined to think the opposite, that our (Thinking of US here) society is paradoxically both too liberal sexually and too puritanical. sexy outfits are marketed to 12 year old girls, but having sex in a public park at midnight can land you in jail (i think--my own experience just included a warning) Our most puritanical states also have the largest percentage of teen pregnancy--the same states that mandate that sex education should be "abstinence only" Repressed sexual desire often leads to perverted sexual desire (pervert: ethically wrong, not =kinky) I think sexual exploitation and prudery are at least in part two sides of the same coin. What do you think?
