Anything interesting insightful funny or particularly well written?

I'm reading a non fiction book so here is mine:

We like to think of kinky play as “gourmet sex.” Some people eat only to meet their bodies’ physical needs, others seek out food that satisfies specific cravings. Some people like fast food, and others like whatever their mother used to cook, and still others prefer their food spicy enough to make them sweat… and all these ways of eating are valid, nutritious and tasty. Gourmets choose to put a lot of time, energy and attention into thinking about, seeking out, preparing and eating very elaborate food, often with arcane ingredients.

A sexual smorgasbord is always a good thing! :)

Mine isn't insightful but it's the point of Stephen King's 11-22-63 where the plot slowly starts to kick in....

EDIT...for fucks sake....several typos!

Take a good close look at my face. Start with my hair and work your way down. Try to ignore what the cancer's doing to me-it plays hell with a person's looks, no doubt about that-and then tell me I'm the same man you saw yesterday.

Is mane a pun or a typo?

I loved Stephen king but I cant read the new ones after reading the really good ones he wrote in the 70's 80s and 90s

I don’t read a lot of Atwood..

This is from The Flight Attendant.

“Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.... The Flight Attendant is by Chris Bohjalian but that’s an Atwood quote.

There is another quote, I listened to it yesterday. I was driving and couldn’t write it down.. I’ll have to find it..

Found it!

She does nothing in moderation. Never has, and sadly never will. The Flight Attendant is by Chris Bohjalian

I've recently re-read Jeanette Winterson's "Written on the Body".

Who taught you to write in blood on my back? Who taught you to use your hands as branding irons? You have scored your name into my shoulders, referenced me with your mark. The pads of your fingers have become printing blocks, you tap a message on to my skin, tap meaning into my body.

Tap meaning into my body is kinda interesting.

It's interesting that you say "kinda interesting" chame1eon, because I've read Winterson not so much as horny erotica but her use of words, the metaphors she creates for love and sex are...very kinda interesting LOL. To me she is the standout writer to have never won a Booker Prize but almost certainly deserved to.

Oh I love stuff like this. This is the kind of thing that proves that you can express so much more in a written format than in other types of media imo.

So true..

That’s what keeps me coming back to Lit..

I couldn’t let her break me, make me feel less than anymore. I hadn’t had any contact with Scarlet since the night of the Masquerade Party. From what I heard, Scarlet focused on her other talent and extended dinner since her headliner band no longer performed.

By a Danish author I had never heard of. Sometimes you find treasures this way.

Retribution by Steffen Jacobsen
