Senator Chuck Schumer Assails Senate Republicans for Lacking 'Honor and Decency'

"Chairman (Lindsey)] Graham just steamrolled over them just like the Republican
majority have steamrolled over principle, fairness, honesty, truth, and decency
in their rush to confirm a justice."

Republicans “live by the rule of "because - we - can," they completely ignore the question
of whether they should — morality principles, value, consistency, all out the window.”

"What Republicans and the far-right cannot accomplish through the legislature,"
said Schumer, "they're trying to accomplish through the judiciary."

"This isn't a difference of opinion—this is an illegitimate power grab," Sen. Elizabeth
Warren (D-Mass.) tweeted Thursday. "Senate Republicans know this process is a sham,
and they're ramming their nominee through anyway in a desperate attempt to cling to
power and impose their extremist agenda on the entire country."

Ana Maria Archila, co-executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy Action,
said in a statement. "Yet Republicans refuse to listen or care, putting their insatiable
quest for power ahead of the people they vowed to serve and the Constitution they
swore to uphold."

Senator Lindsey Graham, the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, cares so very much!

Watch Lindsey Graham’s Attention Comically Wander as Fox News Keeps Camera on Him
During Mike Lee’s Amy Coney Barrett Speech

Oct 22nd, 2020

Fox News live-stream held their shot on Graham for a full six minutes of Lee’s speech

Graham can be seen listening intently, but as the minutes wear on, his attention wanes,
as he cycles through a variety of facial expressions and extraneous activities.

At one point, as Lee speaks, Graham whips out his phone and spends a few moments
scrutinizing the screen, and later confers with a staffer while Lee excoriates the Democrats.

Eventually, someone noticed they were filming someone who wasn’t the guy giving
a speech, and abruptly switched to a shot of Lee.

Barrett’s nomination will now go to the full Senate for a floor vote, expected to take place
on Monday. Senate Republicans have planned a weekend session in order to handle
procedural steps necessary for the Monday vote by the full Senate.

It's a funny thing with these low character Repubs...I knew someone who was having a dispute with one...a neighbor dispute of sorts. One was a dopey Repub and one was a very thoughtful Dem. The Dem kept trying to rationalize and reason out the dispute via dialogue and the Repub kept getting angrier and angrier because they thought the Dem was using "big words" to trick them. At some point the Repub got so upset at the Dem trying to talk it out and be nice that the Repub spit at the Dem. That's when the Dem gave up and left.

I tried to tell the Dem later, had you just hauled off and punched the Repub, that is when you would get their respect. They respond to violence or the threat of it and then want to be your friend. Just my observations in life...

It's a fucking wonder lightening hasn't struck that lying bastard!

As it the Democrats would do it differently! We have watched them in action and apologized to the world.

Do you know how you can tell who's a liar and who isn't: A liar has the perfect anecdote, the perfect example, and they're always a witness to it. It's so perfect it's a cliché.

If you're going to troll-post, make it believable.

:)

We have watched them in action and apologized to the world.

Elaborate, please. When have you ever felt the need to apologise to the world for a Democratic president? I'm an American who has lived overseas since the Dumbya administration and I can tell you from experience, it's no contest which presidents are more popular among our allies.

Being more popular among our allies does not necessarily translate into being a great or even good president.

I've lived overseas (in a diplomatic capacity, including in the previous generation) off and on since the mid 1950s (Eisenhower) and the only Democratic president I remember making waves in foreign perception more than any Republican president was Clinton--but on the opposite side of the apologize spectrum than Americans would normally suppose. On Clinton, the Europeans just couldn't understand what the American problem would be of an American president having a mistress or two under his desk. I'd say that the Republican Eisenhower (who was offered the Democratic nomination as well) was the most revered abroad except that we were in France in 1958 when DeGaulle came to power and he absolutely despised Eisenhower, so the French dutifully hissed when Dwight D.'s name came up. Obama was, of course, was seen as the hope of the world from abroad.

you watched trump, too, then?

psst: lightning
not that trump couldn't do with a whole shitload of enlightening, as well as a single ounce of empathy for anyone other than himself

Trump's entourage lied to 60 minutes- they recorded the footage, and used it

President Trump on Thursday violated an agreement with CBS News

The White House recorded the interview, but told CBS that it would only be for archival purposes

Trump breaks agreement with CBS News by releasing his own video of ‘60 Minutes’ interview

In posting the interview, Trump and the White House violated an agreement with
CBS News that the White House was taping the interview “for archival purposes
only,” said a network source with knowledge of the interview.

For some reason Trump seems on a mission...can't understand it else.

Being more popular among our allies does not necessarily translate into being a great or even good president.

It also isn't necessarily good for the USA or it's citizens.

BTW. Obama felt it was necessary to "apologize" for the USA to the world and actually did so several times. The last time I checked, he was still a Democrat President so...

This is LOL worthy.

The Judiciary Committee rules allow the committee to do what they did. It's not a power grab, it's children whining that they didn't like the party because it wasn't their party and they didn't get any presents.

Anyone want to bet the D's don't show up in their Senate seats on Monday for the floor vote? Unlike the Judiciary Committee, the Senate has to have a quorum. Without the D's present, there's no quorum and thusly no floor vote.

I speak the language you understand since your a low character Repub(high character Repubs I treat differently)...I try to be nice here but in person I wouldn't be that way. You would know pretty fast what I mean...if we happen to ever meet:)

Democratic principles: war, wokeness, decorum, spying on citizens is good, whistleblowers are bad, suddenly discovering that mass incarceration is bad while nominating two of the biggest jailers in American history, pretending that the people we helped in Ukraine aren't a bunch of neo-Nazi skinheads with a lot in common with the Proud Boys, encouraging tech censorship, and not being as anti-labor, and admitting that climate change is real, but doing nothing about it.

Republican principles: pretending to care for small business and middle class taxpayers, while giving handouts and 83% of the tax cut benefits to the rich. Oh, and gutting Social Security. Sucking up to Saudi Arabia and Israel. Defending whatever Saint Donald does, no matter how bad. Keeping brown people out of this country. And making women get back alley abortions while nullifying same-sex marriage. Oh, and reducing health coverage during a pandemic.

Yeah, you guys all suck. Both parties suck. The only question is who sucks less.

You allow your anger to speak for you, which makes you utter hyperboles as well as just making shit up.

You're over emotional...and I see you didn't say that you weren't lying.

:D

Your internet tough talk proves one thing: You're a coward. You've been beaten down your entire life. It makes you feel helpless. That is where your internet toughness comes from.

You know it.

I know it.

Anyone who reads your posts knows it.

.@KamalaHarris took the time
after our event to FaceTime with
my daughters who idolize her. 10
days until decency wins.

While having a picnic dinner with my family tonight, my opponent’s supporters took pictures
of me and my kids. One then angrily confronted me - completely unprovoked - to call me a
'loser' in front of them. Let me be REALLY clear. I’m fair game. BUT my children are OFF
LIMITS.

The Biden Crime family... a model of Democratic principles.

What a bunch of sleaze.

"You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

Oh, and I let this go by before....
As it the Democrats would do it differently!

If that were anywhere near the truth, Merrick Garland would be on the Supreme Court. Why shouldn't we push the Republicans to adhere to their own standards? If eight months before an election is too soon, then ten days before sure as heck is too soon.

How Democrat Joe Manchin Might Sway The Power Of A Split Senate

February 01, 2021

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) , who is set to become chairman of
the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is a conservative
Democrat from one of the reddest states in the country.

The man in the middle -

In a bitterly divided Washington, Joe Manchin is a rare breed. A habitual aisle-crosser,
he maintains strong friendships with Republican colleagues like Sen. Lisa Murkowski
(Alaska), the Energy Committee’s outgoing chair. He attacked Barack Obama’s
environmental policies and voted to confirm more of Donald Trump’s Cabinet
appointees than any other Democrat.

He claims to hate everything about Washington, sleeping on a houseboat named
“Almost Heaven” rather than getting an apartment in the city.

But in 2018, when Manchin announced he was fed up with the Senate, party leaders
talked him into running for another term, figuring he was probably the only Democrat
in West Virginia who would win.

Spot on. Don't talk to me about principals, honesty, fairness, truth, and decency from any Democrat who voted for the Iraq War or refused to prosecute Bush and Cheney for war crimes.

A month has passed, since Trump's terrorist rioters attacked
and invaded the Capitol

February 7, 2021

Rep. Ayanna Pressley spoke to CNN host Jake Tapper

"If we really believe that this is a moment of reckoning in every way,
then we must act accordingly."

"That means that Donald J. Trump must be held accountable because he is culpable
for having incited this insurrection by perpetuating this big lie."

"This House has twice done its job. He will forever be the twice-impeached president
by the Democratic majority, and now the Senate must not only hold Donald Trump
accountable but also to bar him from running for public office ever again."

"And then we know that he had accomplices who told on themselves in broad daylight."
"They aided and abetted this insurrection by perpetuating this big lie and they must be
expelled."

"Then we must continue investigating, Jake, so that any individuals or agencies
that enabled this insurrection are taken into account."

"Let me say this: for those who continue to feign great surprise about what happened
on January 6th -

"As a black woman, to be barricaded in my office using office furniture and water bottles,
on the ground, in the dark, that terror, those moments of terror is familiar in a deep
and ancestral way for me.""

"I want us to do everything to ensure that a breach like this never occurs at the Capitol,
but I want us to address the evil and scourge of white supremacy in this nation."

"This is not only about securing the Capitol to ensure that members and our staffs
and custodial staff are safe in the Capitol, it is that we're safe in America. "

"One of the images I'm haunted by is the black custodial staff cleaning up the mess
left by that violent white supremacist mob."

"That is a metaphor for America. We have been cleaning up after white supremacist mobs
for centuries."
