Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health has been named the Federal Employee of the Year in the annual Service to America Medals, or Sammies.

Fauci “served as the government’s premier expert and spokesperson on infectious diseases during six presidencies, including taking a prominent role in seeking to protect the public from the highly contagious and deadly new coronavirus that swept through the country and the world in 2020,” in the words of the Partnership for Public Service, which presents the annual awards which are considered among the highest honors available to career federal employees.

Good for him. He's been a rock in the stream of White House bullshit so far.

He is awesome!

It is always easier to just stick to facts...

...it's a lesson a few could learn from...his way you don't have to remember the crazy shit you made up.

.
I disagree.

I believe Fauci, Birx, and Redfield have acquiesced to the giant orange toddler way too many times. They had numerous opportunities to flatly reject the misinformation coming out of the White House but instead they went through a series of painful contortions to try and sync up the mixed messages.

Others in the Trump administration have done the same thing during different crises, and they are no better.

Shameless self preservation isn't a good look when millions of lives and trust in our institutions are at stake.

One or all of them should have pointed out that the emperor had no clothes. None of their reputations has truly benefitted from this debacle, regardless of Fauci receiving a participation trophy.

The Sammies? It sounds like something that involves bread and meat and some slut to put it together.

Why don’t you tell us how you would have handled it!

I agree. Naming Fauci gives Trump heartburn (Lysol the cure?), I'm sure, but I think naming Sally Yates, or Marie Yovanovitch, or Yevgeny Vindman would have been more better. They did their thing from out of the gate.

I agree. Silence is complicity.
