This contest starts in a few weeks, so I have started this thread

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22
winners announced: October 29

As usual, this thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2020 Halloween Contest. Get your characters scared and sexy.

There is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but some could be appreciative and helpful.

Wait for Laurel's notice of the start of the contest as a sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread.

Doubt I have the time or energy to complete one in time,. but love this contest.

coincidentally, this morning I started an ideas thread for the contest over at Story Ideas.

Ok. I have one started for this.
Thanks, Ogg, for the extra motivation to add to it today!

Purely by coincidence, I'm working on a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos story right now. It won't qualify for the contest because its a chapter (or two) in a series.

I’m going to sit this one out. Halloween isn’t really a thing around here and I have zero ideas for anything suitable. But if I remember correctly, the Amorous Goods thingy was at the same time, and for that I’ve finished my story a long time ago.

I've been working for a couple of years on a story for this, and it's nearly done, and I'm determined this time to submit it. I'm actually close enough that I just may pull it off and meet a contest deadline for the first time since . . . I don't know when.

I've got one finished and ready for a final read-through, but I'm pretty sure I don't like it. However! I recently uncovered a dusty old plot outline from a few years ago that I'm going to try to crank out.

Witches.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go creepy or funny. I don't think I'll get around to doing both.

Love Halloween stories. Wrote one last year too late to enter into the contest, but it did okay anyway.

I've got a concept for a story for this year fleshed out, but it's so damn good I'm worried it's actually someone else's story I'm remembering from long ago. :D

"There's one flaw in this," said Suzie.

"'Nearly done'?" EB asked.

"'Nearly done'. It's like when my cam gets a bad connection, and everything shudders along and the picture breaks up into weird stuff, and the voice goes like a Dalek."

"Best not mention pixillation. He'll be off with the fairies."

"Typo there, EB?"

"Ideas. You know how he gets distracted."

Carry on. Writing, in your case, Simon. But don't set deadlines ;).

Yes, but that isn't a contest. If you submit an AG story that you want to be a contest submission, you have to flag it as such. It can be either or both.

Yeah, I know. I don’t think my AG story is halloween-y at all. Then again, what I read of the summer lovin’ entries, not all of them were very summery.

Got kept awake much of the night, but on the plus side now have a story idea...

Just need to untangle American and English Halloween traditions (for the purposes of the story if not always in reality)

What activities would a young American man (say age 25, has been to university for a bachelor's degree and started a doctorate) expect at a Halloween party? Too old for trick or treating? Would frat house type parties include apple and donut bobbing, fortune telling and horror movies, or be mostly costume parties with pumpkin and spooky decorations?

I think they'd include beer kegs; masks; some costumes, mostly limited to bedsheet togas; loud music; with, yes, maybe a B-level horror movie on somewhere; and sex.

I think the nugget of your story is in the unexpected activity our hero participates in. He would normally attend a kegger, but he gets invited to go trick or treating. He thinks he's "too old" and it's silly, but in the end he relents. That's when the fun begins...

Good luck!

I vote creepy! Not that I've read every story in the Erotic Horror category by a long shot, but I'm not sure I've come across even one where the author was attempting to go for a real scare or sense of dread - I would love to be corrected on that though so if anyone reading has some suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Think I'll go for creepy myself...

Mine is definitely creepy and going for a sense of dread. I hope to pull it off. I've read some stories of that sort in this category but it's been a little while.

I won't be entering, but hilariously creepy would be my target. Think Transylvania 6-5000.

The creepy story is pretty well formed in my mind, the funny one is much more vague, so if I can only get to one, it will be creepy.
