I don't get it. One of my son's just loves it and got my other son hooked. I guess there are two spin offs. I try to sit with them, but I really don't get it. 1000 ways to kill a zombie by wacking, stabbing, shooting, impaling them with something. I can miss many episodes and it's pretty much the same....same....same. What's the intrigue. Enlighten me.:D

Anyway for those people who really love it...... Happy 10th season. Enjoy!:rose:

When it was good it was bloody brilliant. Went off the boil though.

Look at the flowers...

It was a good show when it’d come out.

Well past its ‘sell by’ though.

Shoulda had a machete cleaved through its temple 4 or 5 seasons ago.

the more i watched it, the more i got involved with the backstories, the links between characters, the sub-plots, and the actual character developments. there's intelligent writing and surprises, so that lifts it way above soap-opera status.

when i first saw it, it came across pretty much all about mashing up zombies, but now there's all kinds of stuff going on and i think that only builds up with time as you get to know the individuals and start to care what happens to them. nooooo, don't kill eugene!

can't wait for october 4th for the mid-season finale and the start of the new spin-off

I've seen the zombies explained as a McGuffin, a plot device to set up the story, another post-apocalyptic splatterfest, since the collapse of civilization is a much longer process that doesn't fit on TV. And now we have riots in many cities, so the zombies look a bit more relevant.

Yep, my son will be watching with you. I think you probably do have to look more at the character development. It's just the sound....the sound when they wack a Zombie head. OHHH and when they try to hide by smearing themselves in the Zombie goo..

it's moved on a lot since then, with the story arcs of main characters seeing a lot of development. it's kind of disturbing how much i can't help liking Negan nowadays, given his past, but they're showing reasons and changes, righteous push-back against him and acceptance of change by others. basically, it's saying he was a good guy before his wife got killed, he turned into a baddie but believed his methods were teh best way to control a difficult situation, but time moves on and self-reflection shows him different and his inherent goodness shines through despite temptations.

and then there's the priest who, eaten by guilt for abandoning his parishioners, becomes the voice of sanity and reason and godliness... right up till he kills someone

or carol... who's moved from scared pipsqueak wife to bereaved parent to warrior-queen to queen-queen to adoptive parent to doubly-bereaved adoptive parent to walking away from her 'king/kingdom', battling drug dependency, making too many bad choices and seeking redemption

and they killed jesus! (non-religious), long-hair, gorgeous eyes, peace-seeker, sensible, super-warrior--doesn't especially 'grow' as a character but finds the weight of being in charge too onerous and heads into the battle that takes him away.

damn, they even go into the whys and wherefores of alpha... her predispositions, her warped mothering, her strengths and her weaknesses and the writers/actors even allow you some pity for her as a person rather than making her simply a monster as she dies.

so many more :D

yes, i am a fan.

the thing is, try... there's no reason why you have to enjoy it just because others do. H's ma'am could sit and watch hallmark movies 24/7 but i loathe them. especially the christmas ones mid-summer :D

we like what we like and we're all different. If you really don't enjoy them, just do something else while it's on. i'll bet your kids won't mind.

To be honest butters I know how wildly popular the Walking Dead is and so I made a post hoping to get a conversation that wasn't politics. My son is catching up right now on season 9. (Carl:eek:) Our house isn't that big!!! I hear it. The 3 guys (yep my husband too) are bonding over that one. He has me hooked on another show we watch together. They won't be around much soon. Back to college.

I'm with you on Hallmark movies though. If there is nothing on I might put one on, but if I'm too tired I can just say to myself....they get together. If it is a Christmas movie....they get together and Christmas is saved.

If I am on my own and look for something to watch, I am an Investigative Discovery gal. Murder mysteries. I've said this many times, so sorry if you have heard it, but my husband thinks I am trying to plan his perfect murder.:eek:Keeps him on his toes. LOL. Watch out for Joe Kenda!!!!

Enjoy the show!!!! Be well......and don't get bit!!!
