Trump never expected to win and never really had a plan. His platform was just a bunch of catch phrases. "Lock her up". "Build the wall", "End Obamacare", "China, China, China", "Maka America Great Again".

Hillary isn't locked up, only three miles of actually new border wall has been added, his "easy" replacement for Obamacare that would be cheaper and better has never materialized, China has become stronger in the world while America has lost ground internationally, and he has done anything but make America great again.

He has inflamed racial tensions domestically and internationally, and he has betrayed the LGBTQ community he promised to support during his 2016 campaign. He has failed epically in his handling of Covid, and that failure along with his failed tax policies, and his abandoning of workers in favor of his wealthy buddies and himself, has led to the exacerbation of the current crises. The only consistency in his governing principles, is his catering to the wealthy, the military, and law enforcement. He definitely sees himself as a king, and he is quick to call for use of force to suppress dissent. He's the emperor in "The Emperors New Clothes". He listened to guys like Steve Bannon and others tell him how great his policies were and he believed them. Now he's standing naked for all the world to see, and it isn't a pretty sight.

Americas investments in foreign countries was not a one way street. Access to foreign markets and resources, and reliable trading and security partnerships was how America benefitted. (See NATO article 5 invocation after 9/11 and American companies profiting overseas, as well as cheaper goods for American consumers.)

As far as the last time the world saw America in a favorable way, you need look no further than Obama when 60% of nations polled viewed the United States in a positive light. That number is down to 50% under Trump, and continues to shrink.

DC statehood doesn’t require a Constitutional amendment. The authority is already in the Constitution. DC would need to ratify its own state Constitution, but that’s all on the DC citizens.
