If we are going to put limits on police tactics, should we also address what we expect from citizens in their interactions with police? It seems that the police are now characterized as a force of evil who must be fought. This is upsetting to the good people of the country. Shouldn't we be telling citizens that police are anauthority that require respect? Let's take the incident in Buffalo. That old man flagrantly violated lawful orders. He absolutely must be charged. People are acting like he would have been totally cooperative had he been grabbed up and arrested. Of course he would not have been. what if he battered a cop in the course of his arrest? The good people of this country do not want police battered in the lawful performance of their duty. And the truth is, in a street fight with some asshole on angel dust, a cop is going to do whatever is necessary to go home to his or her family in one piece. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I agree with outlawing the choke hold. I do not agree that the carotid neck hold should be outlawed. It is much safer and effective as a non-lethal method of control when properly used and trained for. The Carotid hold does not block the airway and will stop violent resistance in seconds. We know this is true as it is applied safely in hundreds of MMA matches all over the US and the World.
