You should watch the full video where Floyd was arrested and cuffed on the sidewalk without resisting, and then walked peacefully to the car. Where he was murdered on camera for all of us to see.

Yeah, my bad. I just saw the new video. The one I saw earlier didn't show the back side of the cruiser, just the front of the cruiser, the cop kneeling on Mr.Floyd and the other cop watching the crowd.

Now that I've seen the full video, I don't see why only the one cop is getting charged.

the sacked and now accused of 3rd-degree murder cop had 18 former complaints against him from the public for his behaviour. and yet nothing had been done to address that. eighteen.

the 2 other cops with him have also been sacked; i don't know what charges they may face but they should, indeed, face charges.

a doorman, a martial arts expert, did ask the cop to stop kneeling on floyd's neck and gave reasons. an off-duty emt woman also told the cop he was endangering the man's life as he lay, cuffed, on the floor.

floyd's neck was knelt on for over 7 minutes, 3 of which at the end where he was unresponsive... and yet the cop continued to kneel on his neck.

they're tired of struggling to live their lives as their white neighbour might, i.e believing cops are there to protect them and not a symbol of fear and injustice. the looting and destruction can't be condoned, but what brought people to that can be understood. it's also understandable that there'll always be an element who exploit such unrest for personal gain.

the biggest question here, is why haven't things changed enough? why has it taken forever? changes will come when stuff gets highlighted like this... like the mandatory use of body cams... and when more people of colour enter the police force and local governmental bodies. clearly thoughts and prayers are simply not enough to effect change.

Just as I can see all the things that contributed to Mr.Floyds death, I can see all the things that have contributed to GROSS inequality and GROSS inequity in this country and around the world.

There isn't gross inequality in the US, quite the opposite.

In some parts of the world yes, most of them radically left because you can't have force equity through authoritarian means and maintain equality at the same time.

Equal starting line or equal finish line, can't get both.

GROSS economic disparity is the greatest cause of the current societal unrest and the greatest threat to long term societal tranquility.

I believe the INDIVIDUAL pursuit of happiness is a freedom integral and central to the American identity and experience. It is the reason the country exists.

Personally I enjoy being retired into an upper middle class life with no economic/material stress in my 30's. the atlanta protest outside the cnn building got a little tense, until the dickhead trying to give it the biggun (by using a skateboard to attempt to smash a big window) apparently sprained his wrist in the process and had to quit to get it wrapped up. bless. might have had something to do with all the little red dots dancing on him, too.

i understand and approve of the protests, but some people are just dicks. i applaud the police stuck in the lobby holding the line for not firing on the crowd when it was really about them acting large for the camera. the police holding steady and not pushing back at the time actually saved lives. when reinforcements showed up, the crowd outside lit something and dispersed pretty quickly. so, anger, bravado, stupidity and common sense meant only some windows got smashed and something set on fire... there, that is. the story's a lot bigger.
