I’ve been reading tea leaves on presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s veep-stakes, and for the longest time, it’s been looking like Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has had the inside track. While rumors claim that Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Kamala Harris of California are still top contenders, it is Warren who seems to be getting the love from Biden, his team, and former President Barack Obama. (Click on that link above if you want examples.)
But last night, we saw the clearest sign that Biden is auditioning Warren for the job—if he hasn’t decided on her already.
Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump 50 - 39 percent in a head-to-head matchup in the election for president, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll of registered voters released today. That's up from the 49 - 41 percent lead Biden held in an April 8th national poll, but the change is within the margin of error. Democrats go to Biden 88 - 5 percent, Republicans go to Trump 87 - 8 percent, and independents go to Biden 47 - 36 percent.
MINNEAPOLIS — Sen. Amy Klobuchar, long seen as a possible running mate for former Vice President Joe Biden, is reportedly getting official consideration for the job.
That’s according to a tweet Thursday from a CBS News campaign reporter who said Klobuchar has been asked by Biden “to undergo vetting to be considered for his VP.” The report was attributed to a senior Biden aide.
But Klobuchar is far from the only prospect. Multiple contenders have reportedly started to undergo vetting, and among prominent Democratic women there have emerged in recent weeks at least a dozen viable prospects.
While Klobuchar is seen as possibly helping Biden in the politically split Midwest, the prospect of her place on the Democratic ticket has seen pushback from some progressives and prominent Democrats of color.

More skuttle for your butts!
Ah! but how are her knees and can she draw in the small donors?![]()
As I've been posting for months, I'd like it to be Klobuchar, but I think it's smarter for it to be Warren.
Warren will draw more progressives. Klobchar will just make the establishment happy.
When former President Barack Obama endorsed his former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday, he also endorsed the ideas of “democratic” socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Obama was trying to bring disenchanted Bernie Bros back into the Democratic fold in a reversal of the 2016 election when many of them appear to have voted for Donald Trump just to stick it to Hillary Clinton.
Obama praised Sanders as “an American original” who gives “voice to working people’s hopes, dreams, and frustrations.” He admitted that he and Bernie “haven’t always agreed on everything but we’ve always shared a conviction that we have to make America a fairer, more just, more equitable society.”
But the former president went further still. He called Sanders’ ideas “critical” to progress in America, especially in “rebuilding our economy.”
“The ideas he’s championed, the energy and enthusiasm he inspired, especially in young people, will be critical in moving America in a direction of progress and hope, because for the second time in twelve years, we’ll have the incredible task of rebuilding our economy. And to meet the moment, the Democratic Party will have to be bold,” Obama declared.
The former president insisted that “even before the pandemic turned everything upside down, it was already clear that we needed real structural change. The vast inequalities created by the new economy are easier to see now, but they existed before this pandemic hit.”
“For years, too many of the people who do the essential work of this country have been underpaid, financially stressed, and given too little support,” Obama lamented. So he argued that “we” — read “the federal government” — have to do more to make sure everyone succeeds.
“We need to do more than just tinker around the edges with tax credits or underfunded programs. We have to go further to give everybody a great education, a lasting career, and a stable requirement,” he said. Echoing Bernie Sanders’ claim that health care should be a “right,” Obama advocated for a “public option” in health care, “so that health care isn’t just a right but a reality for everybody.”
If Obama thinks that Bernie's ideas are so great why didn't he endorse Bernie????![]()
Because Obama isn't a one-note samba? Is this a trick question? Are you still just a butt-hurt BernieBro?
Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, emerged from more than two months seclusion Monday, wearing a black face mask during a visit to lay a wreath on the day the United States honors its war dead.
“Thank you for your service,” the former vice president said to a well-wisher after paying his respects at the Veterans Memorial Park in New Castle, Delaware.
Jack: Your boy Sanders lost; he is an unimportant footnote to history. Progressive policies will not happen in the next four years whoever wins. Why ? Because there ain't no money. Trump destroyed the tax base when he gave away squillions to his big donors, then he stuffed International Trade (and growth) with his crude tariffs (and the obvious repercussions from China) Now both Federal and State governments are in hock to their eyeballs because of the Corvid19 pandemic.
Of course Warren is cutting her cloth to suit circumstances, there is no money left to do anything else. She wouldn't be my choice either but the petty backbiting of petulant Sanders supporters is utterly pointless and plays into the hands of the GOP.
There is only one political objective now, one only and that is get rid of Donald Trump - Nothing, absolutely nothing else matters until after the election.
What practical things are you going to do on election day Jack to get Trump out? (Hint - just your vote is not enough.)
At least you share this with Bernie, Jack: the lack of appreciation that an "all or nothing" approach means "nothing" when you won't work with reality.
MoveOn, a progressive advocacy group, is calling on Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) to remove herself from consideration to be the Democratic party's vice presidential nominee over her record as a county prosecutor.
"Given the role @amyklobuchar played as @Hennepin County prosecutor, including her failure to hold the @MinneapolisPD accountable for racism and abuse, she should immediately take herself out of the running to be @JoeBiden's VP," the group tweeted on Friday.
The death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody, is putting fresh scrutiny on Klobuchar's tenure as Hennepin County attorney, which includes Minneapolis, over criticism that she did not bring criminal charges in cases including police-involved deaths.
Klobuchar, during an interview with MSNBC, declined to take herself out of consideration to be the No. 2 for former Vice President Joe Biden, the party's presumptive 2020 presidential nominee.
“He will make that decision. He’ll decide who he’s considering,” she said.
I sure hope so. Biden needs his head examined if he picks her.
Sen. Bernie Sanders told The New Yorker Tuesday that he believes former Vice President Joe Biden can be pushed to the left on a number of issues if he wins the 2020 general election.
In an interview titled “Bernie Sanders Is Not Done Fighting,” the Vermont independent senator refused to “sugarcoat” his political differences with his former primary opponent, who is now the presumptive Democratic nominee challenging President Donald Trump in November. During the 2020 primary debates, Biden claimed Sanders’ plan to expand Medicare to all Americans was not “realistic” and said the country is “not looking for a revolution” weeks before the coronavirus pandemic revealed the economic precarity in which millions of people live in the United States.
"The establishment wing of the party didn't fall into line behind Biden despite the fact that he'd put Bloomberg and Jamie Dimon in his cabinet. They did it because of that. This is who they are."
Joe Biden is reportedly considering appointing businessman Michael Bloomberg and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, both billionaires, to powerful leadership positions should Biden win the Democratic presidential nomination and defeat President Donald Trump in November.
Axios reported Monday that the former vice president and his campaign advisers are weighing Dimon for treasury secretary, a cabinet position tasked with overseeing the U.S. financial system. Biden is also considering Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bank of America vice chair Anne Finucane for the top Treasury post.
Bloomberg, who dropped out of the presidential race last week and immediately endorsed Biden, "would be top possibility to head the World Bank" under a Biden administration, according to Axios.
Progressive observers were appalled, if not surprised, by the preliminary list of potential Biden appointees, which Axios reported just 24 hours before Democratic primary contests in six states.
"This shouldn't surprise anyone. This is who the Dem Party is," tweeted Glenn Greenwald, co-founder of The Intercept. "The establishment wing of the party didn't fall into line behind Biden despite the fact that he'd put Bloomberg and Jamie Dimon in his cabinet. They did it because of that. This is who they are, their ideology."
Will the Convention follow Biden or appoint a real progressive, Tulsi or Bernie? If Bernie can convince BLM that vote for Biden is a vote for the Status Quo, does Biden's jet flameout?![]()
