Democratic Primary Fucktussle!

You and I both know that the DNC Establishment will never back progressives, or even Eleanor Roosevelt Democrats again.

They will run off anyone like Bernie, Tulsi, or AOC, Christ they even ran off Liz.

Chuck, Nancy and Joe are as left as they will tolerate. Sell outs and puppets are the DNC's types.

Yes, you need to go find another party to piss on, Jack. Your guys--the all blow/no show tea party of the left--weren't able to steal the DNC.

The Democratic Party Exists To Co-Opt And Kill Authentic Change Movements

Talking about All show and no go parties!

This is also the entire role of the Democratic Party. To enthusiastically agree with American support for movements calling for real changes which benefit ordinary people, while making no actual moves to provide no such changes. The actors read the lines, but remain motionless.

Barack Obama made a whole political career out of this. People elected him because he promised hope and change, then for eight years whenever hopeful people demanded changes he’d say “Yes, we all need to get together and have a conversation about that”, express sympathy and give a moving speech, and then nothing would happen. The actors remain motionless, and Godot never comes.

Democratic Party leaders are currently under fire for staging a ridiculous performative display of sympathy for George Floyd by kneeling for eight minutes while wearing Kente cloth, a traditional African textile. The streets of America are filled with protesters demanding a total overhaul of the nation’s entire approach to policing. The Democratic Party’s response is to put on a children’s play using black culture as a prop, and advance a toothless reform bill whose approach we’ve already established is worthless which will actually increase funding to police departments.

Meanwhile it’s blue states with Democratic governors and cities with Democratic mayors where the bulk of the police brutality people are objecting to is occurring. The Democrats are going out of their way to spin police brutality as the result of Trump’s presidency, but facts in evidence say America’s violent and increasingly militarized police force would be a problem if every seat in every office in America were blue.

I don’t know what will happen with these protests. I don’t know if the demonstrators will get anything like the changes they are pushing for, or if their movement will be stopped in its tracks. What I do know is that if it is stopped, it will be because of Democrats and their allies.

New Deal hell. we need a Fresh Deck.

AP reports Joe Biden’s VP searched has narrowed to six finalists

The list reportedly includes Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Rep. Val Demings (D-FL), Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-MN), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

“Biden, who has already said he will pick a woman as his running mate, is facing increased calls from Democrats to put a woman of color on the ticket — both because of the outsize role that black voters played in Biden’s road to the nomination and because of the reckoning over racism and inequality roiling the nation following the death of George Floyd,” the AP reported.

What he couldn't find a milqtoast like HRC did?:)

Democrats have an opportunity to dump Trump and ‘lock in Democratic majorities for decades’: conservative

In her column for the Washington Post, conservative Jennifer Rubin stated that there has never been a better time for Democrats to seize control of both Congressional chambers and the White House and relegate the Donald Trump-led Republican Party to the sidelines for decades.

Calling it a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity, Rubin claimed that the combination of national outrage over the killing of African-Americans by police, and the coronavirus pandemic with the attendant economic collapse during the Trump administration makes taking control of the government easily attainable.

The questions is: "Will the DNC fumble fuck this one chance in a Decade away with a Status Quo is good enough platform?"

House Democrats, Aiming To Make A Point, Plan Vote On D.C. Statehood

The House has scheduled a vote next week on a bill to make the District of Columbia the 51st state, marking the first time since 1993 that Congress will have voted on the issue.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., announced the June 26 vote alongside Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and D.C. officials on Tuesday morning.

The bill, sponsored by D.C.'s nonvoting delegate, Eleanor Holmes Norton, has over 220 co-sponsors and would place the new state of "Washington, Douglass Commonwealth" on "equal footing with the other states," providing residents with the right to elect two senators and one representative.

Call it the State of Potomac and add Porto Rico as 52nd state. :):):)

It is - or at least was fairly recently - officially in the RNC platform to support statehood for Puerto Rico if its voters wanted it. Something tells me it won't be staying that way very long if it looks like it might actually happen!

DC is nothing without the huge centralized bureaucracy, which Trump is starting to decentralize, and will eventually shrink as the nation's credit is rejected. After the capital is moved to higher ground away from the coast, the land will revert to swamp, and later the rising ocean may cover some of it.

Progressives launch ‘all-hands-on-deck strategy’ for Jamaal Bowman’s primary against Rep. Eliot Engel: report

One week before New York Democrats will vote in the state’s Democratic Party primary, progressives are turning up the heat in a primary bid against the chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, Politico reported Tuesday.

“Desperate for victory after watching the presidential nomination slip through their fingers, progressives have found a new cause to rally around. Across the country, they’re channeling their grief, volunteer muscle and small-dollar donations into Jamaal Bowman, a left-wing candidate in New York trying to oust decades-long incumbent Congressman Eliot Engel,” Politico reported.

“Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, all of whom have shown caution in the past about backing primary challengers to incumbent Democrats, have endorsed Bowman. Justice Democrats and the Working Families Party, two left-wing groups that took different paths during the presidential race, announced they are coming together to spend more than a half-million dollars to elect Bowman,” Politico reported. “Former aides to Sanders and Warren have also publicly lined up behind Bowman.”

Hillz backs Engel! How progressive/s!

If Biden hasn’t already made it as Democratic nominee for President, the reality is that he will make it. A vote for a third party will elect Trump, because the third parties have not yet learned to band together. So the big question for Bernie-ites is who they want for vice-president.

The most talked about candidates for vice-president have been Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. But each of them have serious problems, and both of them in the past have abandoned some point of Bernie’s platform for their own benefit. What I want is someone who will be solidly behind Bernie’s ideas and who will carry them into the future.

“Although most pundits predict Biden’s choice to be Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Stacy Abrams, or other moderate female candidates in the Democratic party, a more appealing option is Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard who checks all of the boxes for a successful and effective running mate. Gabbard will contribute diversity and vitality to the Democratic presidential campaign, satisfying key constituencies with which Biden lacks traction such as centrist military families. . .

I agree that that person is Tulsi Gabbard. She has received negative ratings from the DNC and corporate Democrats, and for me that is a positive sign. And in 2016 she quit the DNC so that she could endorse Bernie for President. This is an important indication that she will follow her principles even if it may hurt herself personally. This road is the one that Bernie has followed all his life.
With Tulsi at his back, it will be much more difficult for the third parties to argue that Bernie-ites are being “sheep” if they support Biden. They can support Biden in the hope that Tulsi will help them take over the Democratic Party. It is very possible that Biden will die in office or lose his position under the 25th Amendment. In that case, Tulsi will be President. And in the DNC stops Tulsi from succeeding Biden, she can lead the Bernie-ites to form a strong progressive party by bonding with the third parties.

It may be Bidens only real choice to hold the Bernie Bros in. That's how Hillary lost by ignoring the progressive wing of the party. They are not true blue believers in the DNC! and you can not blame them for staying home. Noone thought she could lose to a scumbag like Donnie! But she did!!!!!:eek:

McGrath defeats Booker in Kentucky Senate Democratic primary, NBC News projects

Amy McGrath has won Kentucky's U.S. Senate Democratic primary, NBC News projects, edging out progressive Charles Booker in a tougher-than-expected race for the right to face Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in November.

McGrath, a ret. Marine Lt. Col. who was backed by several establishment Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., had initially had been a heavy favorite in the race and held an enormous fundraising edge over Booker, a state Representative whose candidacy received the support of progressive lawmakers and groups.

But Booker ended up mounting a far tougher challenge than expected, fueled by momentum from his vocal support for protests against the shooting death by police of a Louisville woman.

On Tuesday, a week after the election, McGrath led Booker 45.1 percent to 42.9 percent, a margin of about 11,600 votes, with 95 percent of the state's precincts reporting, according to NBC News. The tally had been delayed because of the large number of mail-in votes that needed to be counted of election day.

Conservative writer reveals Biden’s hidden ‘superpower’ against all of Trump’s attacks

President Donald Trump has been attacking former Vice President Joe Biden in a variety of ways, from ageism to insisting that he would be a tool of the “radical left” if elected. But so far, none of Trump’s attacks have been hurting Biden with voters. One poll after another has found Trump trailing the 77-year-old Democrat — often by double digits — in both swing states and national surveys.

Conservative columnist Matt Lewis examines some of Trump’s anti-Biden attacks in the Daily Beast, explaining why they haven’t been working. One of Trump’s biggest problems, according to Lewis, is the fact that he doesn’t have former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run against this time.

“A more exciting and revolutionary Democrat probably wouldn’t be dominating the polls like Biden,” Lewis writes. “For Trump, who thrives on excitement and attention, being boring is akin to an unpardonable sin. For Biden, being boring is, ironically, a superpower.”

Democratic task forces send Biden a progressive policy roadmap

The former primary rivals, whose sharp differences were on display throughout the year-long Democratic nomination battle, will jointly release the specific policy recommendations made by the so-called Unity Task Forces they appointed in April to find common ground on six key areas: climate change, criminal justice reform, the economy, education, health care and immigration.

The recommendations include draft language that will be submitted to the Democratic National Committee’s party committee as a “starting point” for their consideration, the Biden campaign said, adding that the former vice president “looks forward to reviewing” their work.

I doubt that OHJ will adopt these recommendations in the platform when the Establishment lays out his actual platform. Nancy will claim that they are too controversial to pass even with a Dem majority in the House and Senate.:rolleyes:

The platform - any platform will count for little. Biden can promise anything he likes which might help garner a few votes. When elected he will find that Trump smashed the tax base with his stupid and ill placed cuts. Then he put the nation in hock for trillions with the Covid cock ups. Shortage of funds will make all platforms modest.

The fundamental platform has to be the survival of the law and the nation's institutional framework, most particularly getting Congress working again. Congress has neglected its legislative function almost totally since the GOP got a Senate majority in 2012.

Biden unveils economic plan to spur American manufacturing

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden unveiled the first major plank of his economic agenda Thursday, detailing a moderate proposal to use government purchasing to spur manufacturing in sectors such as clean energy, infrastructure and health care.
The former vice president delivered a speech outside his childhood hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, as he launched what his campaign is calling its "build back better" agenda, which Biden said would pump federal dollars into purchasing and research and development "in a way not seen since the Great Depression and World War II."
Other planks his campaign said will be detailed in the coming weeks include clean energy, the "caregiving economy," such as child-care and domestic workers, and racial equity.
"Throughout this crisis, Donald Trump has been almost singularly focused on the stock market -- the Dow and the Nasdaq. Not you and not your families," Biden said. "If I am fortunate enough to be your president, I'll be laser-focused on working families, middle-class families like I came from here in Scranton, not the wealthy investor class. They don't need me; working families do."

Biden will raise the tax rate to 28%, and make Amazon pay some taxes. RIght.

Economic Recovery? Joe Biden Has A Plan For That

Joe Biden gave a speech at a metal-working plant in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, near his hometown of Scranton — did you know? Joe Biden is from Scranton! He slammed Donald Trump as being out of touch with working Americans and called for using the power of the American government to help build a post-coronavirus economy that's fairer for workers, with good, clean-energy, union jobs. Biden's testing out a new slogan, "Build back better," to push his economic recovery program, which has some very noticeable DNA from earlier proposals rolled out by Jay Inslee and Elizabeth Warren during the primaries. As Biden's campaign site puts it,

[This] is no time to just build back to the way things were before, with the old economy's structural weaknesses and inequalities still in place. This is the moment to imagine and build a new American economy for our families and the next generation.

It was a very good speech, if you have a half hour to spare; Biden had to compete with a bunch of chirping birds in the venue, which frankly was kind of charming. Let's watch!

Biden said the tax code, and the economy in general, have for too long been tailored to help the investor class at the expense of virtually all other parts of the economy. "We must reward work as much as we rewarded wealth — but now we just reward excessive wealth." In addition to rolling back most of Trump's 2017 Big Fat Tax Cut for Rich Fuckwads, Biden said we need to see the economy as working for everyone, not just Wall Street:

As Trump was accusing Biden of stealing from him, Fox News was already accusing Biden's proposals of being simultaneously ineffectual and a dangerous path to Marxism, because if there's anything Americans hate, it's good jobs, fairness, and a clean environment. Please give us oligarchy!

Biden added that next week, he'll be releasing a clean infrastructure plan, and there again we expect it to be heavily influenced by ideas from Warren and Inslee. Can't wait to see Trump insist he came up with the idea of Infrastructure Week first.

:D
