vodka vs. gin

so, i love the taste of a g&t but with vodka i never have a hangover. a couple of black russians before bed totally knock me our w/ no after effects. don't even talk to me about whiskey, i've already ruined too many pairs of shoes by throwing up on them. and beer...don't go there. am i an alcoholic? should i give a shit?

Not a fan of Gin... always leaves me with a bad aftertaste. My friends who like it, always love the fact they never get a hangover from it..

As for you worried if you're an alcoholic - thats for you to work out. Can you live with out it?

How old are you, that you're still vomiting when drinking.. Either you're young, dumb and having fun, or yeah.. you're older and have issues.

i worked for tanquerry's distillery, and there's a certain (almost greasy) flavour profile to gin i'm not really a fan of... and the summer weeks working in the offices with the windows open makes the smell of the distillation ubiquitous. vodka, on the other hand, i find a much cleaner-tasting spirit and i just don't understand those who say it has no taste or flavour i also found it leaves me hangoverless (except for one, extremely extreme incident involving lithuanians and everyone downing shots as each song at the part ended...).

Of course some of this dislike may come down to simple preference, but for those cilantro-haters for whom the plant tastes like soap, the issue is genetic. These people have a variation in a group of olfactory-receptor genes that allows them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavored aldehydes in cilantro leaves.
