I found the instructions about how to change the 'tags' and 'category' of one of my stories. And I even understand how to submit (TITLE OF STORY + EDIT).....but

And I've read and reread and looked and looked.....

I cannot figure out if I should resubmit the story when I do this. I don't want to make ANY changes to the story....just to the category and tags for it.....I can easily resubmit it....but with zero changes will that screw something up?

Or if I leave the story spot blank will it replace my story with a blank space?

I'm sure the answer is there and I'm either not seeing it or not understanding it. Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

To change category, resubmit the whole story exactly as is, change the category, change the tags. Add a Note to the Editor saying what you've done, why you'd like the category change. Note, however, that Laurel has final say on the category - she'll probably move it to your preference, but she might not.

Thank You!

Thank you. I'm not terribly worried....it sort of straddles both lesbian and fetish so I picked fetish and submitted, and by the time I was done with part two I realized that it was firmly in the lesbian category, so I should have gone with my gut and submitted part one that way too. Someone in the comments has pointed out that more people would find part one if they were both in the same category.

But if Lit decides to leave it where it is I'll happily live with it. I've got nothing to lose by trying.

When you write a multiple part story, submit it all in one category and use unique tags for each story.

Certain categories get more views than others. Incestseems to have the most views by far, I think hot wives is second.

Also, a lot of people won't read any story with a chapter number, because there are too many serials that were abandoned before completion which is annoying.

I do write stories in chapters but also decided to submit all parts as one story so readers can read it either way. But not until all chapters have been posted for a few weeks. The key to getting views is to add new stories frequently. This puts your stories in the new story list, and if people enjoy it they check out your older works. Recently one of my old stories jumped from a 4.35 to a 4.5 getting the HOT designation. All because I had some new stories published.

If possible wait until you have several chapters and upload them the same day with a request to space them 3-4 days apart. Or post one long story, this will increase views but you will get fewer votes and comments as people will stop reading 15-page stories before the end but will finish a four-page story.
