Of course, he is telling a lie about it. He always does.

(Or, he sends his team members out to tell a lie for him.)

The people that meet with Trump, and give campaign money
to him, ask why Trump lies about trivial, un-important details,
and why Trump tells such obviously false, impossible tales.

impotant - potato ideas ? (He is a barely sentinent pale yam.)

Yes, he is telling lies.

Trump does not say, and Pence denies it, and said he does not know.
(Why-the-fuck would Trump and Pence avoid a coronavirus test, if
they have been exposed ?)

The (Trump) administration can’t take congressional support
for whatever it proposes for granted. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
(D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)
outlined their preferences Sunday, calling for paid sick leave,
enhanced unemployment insurance, expanded food stamp benefits,
and “widespread and free” coronavirus testing and reimbursement
for care not covered by insurance.

House Democrats are set to hear on Wednesday from Jason Furman,
who served as President Obama’s top economist, and Claudia Sahm,
a former Fed economist who specializes in recessions. Both have called
for a fiscal major fiscal response — Furman is ballparking the price tag
at $350 billion. And both say the benefits must be tailored to make an
impact quickly for the most vulnerable, a mark they say a payroll tax
cut misses.

“It would be too slow and dispersed to substantially stimulate the
economy, as households would receive only a modest benefit every
pay period,” Furman wrote in the Wall Street Journal last week.
“The distributional effects are worrisome as well: A one-year payroll
tax cut of 2% of income would provide up to a $5,508 tax cut to a
high-income couple, only $500 to a single parent getting by on $25,000
a year, and nothing for a worker placed on leave without pay. This isn’t
the fairest or most efficient way to increase aggregate demand.”

John Cornyn, a member of Senate GOP leadership, has little appetite

Trump on Containing Coronavirus: Mission Accomplished!

Does Trump Really Think He “Stopped” Coronavirus?

Larry Kudlow Again Insists Coronavirus Is 'Contained,'
Urges Americans: 'Stay At Work'

Donald Trump boasts: “We stopped it.”

Trump repeatedly referred to the figure of “15” cases in the US,
when the actual figure was 60, and promised that that number
would go down rather than up: “It’s going to disappear. One day
it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

Trump’s chief economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, breezily assured
the US public that the bug had been contained and that the country
was sealed “pretty close to airtight” against the disease, when of
course it is not.

Note the fate of Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute
of Allergy and Infectious Disease. On Thursday he dared say that
“we are dealing with a serious virus” with a higher mortality rate
than regular flu. That was deemed insufficiently upbeat for the
great leader. According to the New York Times, “Dr Fauci has
told associates that the White House had instructed him not
to say anything else without clearance.”

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/feb/28/coronavirus-donald-trump-truth-president

After reports Thursday that Vice President Mike Pence's office
would be coordinating all government communications about
the virus' spread, Dr. Anthony Fauci told lawmakers at Friday's
briefing that he would be backing out of a series of T.V. interviews
this weekend.

"Dr. Fauci said that when everything changed over to the Vice
President being given the authority to lead the effort, Dr. Fauci
had been already booked on a number of programs," said Rep.
Mark Takano, D-Calif. "He said to everyone — I am not being
muzzled, I want to clear that up."

'Stealth Attack on Social Security':
Trump Condemned for Exploiting Coronavirus Crisis
to Push Payroll Tax Cut

"This is a Trojan Horse attack on our Social Security system."

Trump and the Republicans in Congress cannot be trusted to protect
the Social Security trust fund," Baker said. "They have frequently
proposed cuts to the program, and under President Bush, sought
to privatize it. They may well use a temporary tax cut as an
opportunity to weaken the program's finances so that they
can then push for cuts or privatization."

Nancy Altman, president of progressive advocacy group
Social Security Works, accused Trump of "using the coronavirus
crisis as an excuse to propose a reduction in payroll contributions."

Donald Trump announces suspension of all travel
from Europe to the US for 30 days

In the US, Donald Trump says-
To keep new cases from entering our shores we will
be suspending all travel from Europe to the US for
the next 30 days.”

https://www.theguardian.com/world/l...andemic-as-italy-introduces-stricter-measures

The World Health Organization officially declared it a pandemic.

"The idea this would reduce transmission here is not based on evidence."
"The reality is germs don’t respect borders.”

Trump’s Europe travel ban flies in face of recommendations
by WHO and health experts

For months, health experts and the World Health Organization
have strongly advised against border closings and targeted
travel bans, like the one Trump just announced against Europe.

“Travel restrictions can cause more harm than good by
hindering info-sharing, medical supply chains and
harming economies,” the head of the World Health
Organization said shortly before the Trump administration’s
earlier decision to ban travel from China.

(...)

Travel bans often lead to negative economic consequences
for the countries banned, making them less likely to disclose
outbreaks in the future. China, for example, initially tamped
down reports during the 2002 SARS outbreak and initially
with this current coronavirus outbreak.

Such bans can cause people to simply keep their travel surreptitious,
making it harder to do crucial contact tracing of the infected. It can
also choke the supply chain for medical supplies, drugs and other
essentials. Travel bans, experts also point out, can cause friction,
hampering information sharing and international efforts — as has
happened between the United States and China at a time when
coordination and transparency has been crucial to fighting the virus.

“It’s entirely unwise. First of all, it violates WHO recommendations
and treaties that U.S. has signed onto."

- Lawrence Gostin, global health law professor at Georgetown University.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2020/03/11/coronavirus-live-updates/

Did he lie out of habit ? Or, just get lost, because drugs ?

Walking it back...

This time, Trump blamed travelers from Europe for bringing
coronavirus to the U.S. "A number of new clusters in the
United States were seeded by travelers from Europe," he said.

And his speech did still generate some confusion.

After Trump finished his remarks, the Department of Homeland
Security clarified that the new order would not bar all travelers
from Europe, just foreign nationals traveling from Europe to the
U.S. The order also doesn't prohibit the travel of legal permanent
residents and the immediate family members of U.S. citizens.

The guidance does apply, however, to people transporting cargo
from Europe, the White House told POLITICO. Still, goods and
cargo will be permitted to enter the U.S., another statement that
needed clarification after Trump was finished.

Trump’s attempt to tar Obama and Biden with swine flu is pure revisionism

The first thing is that it’s false to claim “Joe Biden was in charge of the H1N1
Swine Flu epidemic.” Obama never put Biden in charge of the response,
as Trump has done with Vice President Pence.

The second is that the claim that “actually nothing was done for a long
period of time” is wrong, and the claim that Obama didn’t declare a
national health emergency is very misleading.

Obama didn’t declare a more drastic national health emergency until
six months later, but Trump hasn’t done that either.

And that brings up the other key point here:
The reason for the less drastic initial response was because the swine flu
was significantly less dangerous than today’s coronavirus.

The last point is that the idea that the Obama administration’s response
was a disaster isn’t borne out, either in the data or in public opinion.

The swine flu infected lots of people — 60 million Americans —
but it didn’t post anywhere near the threat to life that the novel
coronavirus does.

"Suggesting Biden ran the response and that it was some kind
of unmitigated disaster as a comparison to what we face today,
though, is some real revisionism."

Google is working on nothing, they explained.

Verily Life Sciences—another company opened by the same parent,
Alphabet—is working on a site, but nothing about it matches what
Trump said. That site is to help triage COVID-19 patients. It’s only
for the Bay Area. And it’s not just about to appear, it’s still in
“early stages of development.” Google doesn’t specify how many
engineers are working on the site at Verily, but since the entire staff
of Verily, most of whom are not web developers, is just 400 people,
it’s a cinch it’s not “1,700 engineers.”

So where did Trump get that this was a national site?
Where did he get the idea that it was going to be ready soon?
Where were the descriptions of the functionality generated?
Where did the figure of 1,700 engineers come from?

Those are really good questions. Which you can bet that the press
will not ask at the next event.

the supposed functionality, suggesting that after taking a test, people
would be able to check on their results.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy
and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, seems
like a good and dedicated public servant. He has been with the NIH
since 1968 and was a key player in the 2003 plan to combat AIDS
as well as heading up a group considering how to protect against
the threat of bioterrorism following 9/11. He’s done important work
not just on fighting HIV/AIDS, but in addressing several diseases of
the immune system. He was instrumental in developing therapies for
at least three formerly fatal diseases. At 79, Fauci is a very accomplished,
dedicated scientist whose service to the nation and the world is without
question. And now he has to stand up every single day while Donald
Trump uses him as a prop in a ritual designed to paint Trump as the
savior in a disaster he’s still enacting.

It was clear from the beginning that the purpose of the “coronavirus task force”
was not to provide the nation with consistent leadership in a time of unparalleled
threat. Which is good. Because they haven’t done that. The purpose of the task
force is the purpose of everything else in Trump’s Washington—bolstering
Trump’s ego. Which leaves Fauci dancing on the edge of a razor blade every
day as he tries to slip a crumb of truth to America … without joining all the
other competent people in the unemployment line.

President Donald Trump seemed to float getting rid of every journalist at the White House except a small handful of reporters he likes.

Social distancing has forced a considerable depopulation of the White House press corps, for in the last few days of press briefings, many chairs remained unoccupied so reporters were able to maintain proper safe distances from one another.

Trump remarked on Thursday that the media has been “much nicer” to him with less reporters around, and during questions about coronavirus cases in Congress, he suggested every journalist present that he doesn’t like should go.

“I know all of them. I don’t know if they’re sitting like you people are sitting. You’re actually sitting too close. We should probably get rid of another 75, 80 percent of you. I’ll have just 2 or 3 that I like in this room. I think that’s a great way of doing it. We just need a new way of doing it. But you’re actually much too close, you should leave immediately.”

Trump blames the media- we were not ready for the media

Welker faulted Trump’s preparation, asking, “You did say a few days ago that you did have a sense that this was a pandemic… so why was the United States not prepared with more testing?”

“We were very prepared. The only thing we weren’t prepared for was the media… I’ll tell you how prepared I was, I called for a ban from people coming in from China…In fact, it was your network, I believe they called me racist because I did that, Trump said back.

“Many of the people in the room, they called me racist and other words because I did that. Because I went so early, so when you say I wasn’t prepared, had I let these tens of thousands of people come in from China a day, we would have had something right now, that would have been — you wouldn’t have even recognized it compared to where we are.”

Trump Hatred: Incurable Disease That Leads to Insanity

I maintain that the hatred of Donald Trump robs one of intellectual discernment. Nowhere is my submission more evident than the news reporting and reaction to the President’s handling of this corona pandemic crisis. Both Bernie and Biden, one of whom will be the opponent to the President this November, have been quick to allege sheer incompetence displayed by Pres Trump and his administration in handling this crisis. They of course neglect to actually offer concrete evidence of incompetence, and likewise do not offer any better suggestions that they would do. Although Bernie in answer to a direct question admitted he would not want to close the border notwithstanding the pandemic, and Sleepy Joe said he would not stir up xenophobic fears against Chinese people, by labeling the virus as the Chinese virus such as Pres Trump has. One suspects he probably would not have invoked the travel ban to and from China as well.

Even yesterday (03/18/20) at the virus news conference two reporters were concerned by the Pres’s nomenclature of the virus suggesting there were dozens of outbreaks of anti Asian incidents. And of course the first criticism that MSM pundits (i.e. the faithful lackeys to the Democrat Party) leveled against the task force that Pres Trump had assembled to deal with the crisis that the members were not diverse enough. Apparently in the woke world it is better to be dead than to be thought of as racist. In this regard the mayor of Florence, Italy, in lock step with political correctness, had suggested the best thing to do to combat the virus is to hug Chinese people. I wonder if he might have had second thoughts by now.

See: https://www.defendevropa.com/2020/n...racism-and-it-went-exactly-as-you-did-expect/

By far the most fatuous statement ever made by a Trump hater, that would be Larry O’Donnell who apparently hosts a political talk show on MSNBC, who asserted that more Americans are dead or dying because Donald Trump is the President of the United States. I guess we should be grateful that he acknowledges that Trump is the President and not merely the occupant of the White House.

See: https://www.dailywire.com/news/msnb...ica-tonight-because-donald-trump-is-president

Here are some facts and figures for Mr O’Donnell to ponder: at the time of the writing of this posting Italy reports 3,405 deaths due to the corona virus, a figure apparently surpassing the official reported death toll in China, but of course no one believes the Chicoms anyway. The death toll in the United States for this virus stands at 160. The population of Italy is about 60 and a half million people, whereas the population of the United States is a little over 327 million.

I am, though, surprisingly delighted in seeing some common sense starting to permeate the thought process of some virulent Trump haters. Why the Democrat governors of New York and California, as bona fide Trump hater as you can get, have sheepishly praised the President and were grateful for the federal government’s all out help to their states in fighting this virus. Why even heavens to betsy, a member of the squad, to wit, Ilhan Omar, has actually praised the President for his incredible and right response to this crisis. Oh wow!

Trump is still angry with Yamiche Alcindor (NPR), for asking him
a "nasty question"

As the United States grapples with the novel coronavirus pandemic,
President Donald Trump said on Friday that he didn’t know
“anything about” a reorganization of the National Security
Council that dismantled a key pandemics office nearly
two years ago.

The head of that team, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, left suddenly
after the team was disbanded in 2018 along with other members
of the office; he had been tasked with how the country responds
to a threat like the novel coronavirus.

When Trump was asked by the PBS NewsHour’s Yamiche Alcindor

the president called it a nasty question, saying it wasn’t him and

The coronavirus pandemic is on the lips of every Nigerian at churches, mosques and schools, reports Daniel Semeniworima, of the BBC's Pidgin service in Lagos.

Many Nigerian households still use tablets containing chloroquine for treating malaria even though it was banned in 2005.

News of a February study in China about the use of chloroquine for the coronavirus had already sparked lively debate in Lagos, so people were stocking up.

Following Mr Trump's reference to chloroquine as a coronavirus treatment, this ramped up and shops and chemists sold out of the drug very quickly.

But the Nigerian Centres for Disease Control has told people to stop taking it.

"The WHO has NOT approved the use of chloroquine for #COVID19 management."

#FactsNotFear@WHO has NOT approved the use of chloroquine for #COVID19
management. Scientists are working hard to confirm the safety of several drugs
for this disease.

Please DO NOT engage in self-medication. This will cause harm and can lead
to death. #COVID19Nigeria

Trump claimed he ordered companies to produce medical supplies.

His FEMA director says that’s not true.

March 22, 2020

(Ordinary people are panic buying in the shops and stores.
Trump is panic buying in the international market, and
competing with other countries for what is needed.)

President Trump last week claimed he is using the Defense Production Act
to push companies to produce crucial medical equipment for hospitals in
desperate need during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I invoked the Defense Production Act, and last night, we put it into gear,”
Trump said at Friday’s coronavirus task force briefing.

But two days later, his FEMA chief said that’s not the case.

“No. We haven’t yet,” FEMA Administrator Peter T. Gaynor said
Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Gaynor said Trump hasn’t “had to use it because companies
around the country [are offering] donations; they are saying,
‘What can we do to help you?’”

He described the Defense Production Act as “leverage.”

“If it comes to a point we have to pull the lever, we will. But, right now,
’s really a great sign about the greatness of this country,” Gaynor said.

Not long after Gaynor’s appearance on CNN, Trump on Sunday sent
a tweet that added further confusion to the situation.

“Ford, General Motors and Tesla are being given the go ahead to make
ventilators and other metal products, FAST! @fema Go for it auto execs,
lets see how good you are?” Trump tweeted.

Trump signed an executive order Wednesday, and a White House official
said Sunday the president has “invoked” the act.
