even the number varies wildly, from 75 to a 150

The president said that his treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, and the commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, would be “sending letters out essentially telling” some of Washington’s trading partners what tariff rates would be imposed on their goods exports to the US market.

“At a certain point over the next two or three weeks, I think Scott and Howard will be sending letters out essentially telling people – it will be very fair – but we’ll be telling people what they’ll be paying to do business in the United States,” he said.

now if I were at all a non-believer in trump's abilities to make dealing an art form, I might be prone to thinking there were way too many countries not willing (or agreeing) to trump's offers and so no progress is being made, leading to this announcement. :poop:

It’s funny, but also unsettling.

There IS a good chance that a number of countries DonOld has alienated are currently negotiating the U.S. out of the picture when it comes to global trade and supply chains.

🤬

Meanwhile: DonOld’s recent "trade deals" with middle eastern countries could wind up being vaporware deals, IF, at some point in the future, some of the arms purchases, orders for commercial jets, etc, are canceled for whatever reason.

🤬

We. Told. Them. So.

This senile old idiot is living in the past. It's a big world, Donny Boy, and they are all saying "Fuck You!".

Some good is coming from Trump's idiocy. Canada is now replacing American oil with Canadian into China. Australia has picked up US beef sales to China and a big slice of China's LNG purchases also from US producers. Even better, the EU has returned to working on a free trade agreement with OZ which both sides walked away from 2 years ago.

Agreed… Trump is actually right about other countries relying too much on the USA.

If countries start looking around and putting eggs in more baskets it will be good for all.

And taking the USA down a few pegs would also be good.

Butters doesnt need 30 dolls!
Hahaha

Changes which may remain in place after the next administration drops the tariffs -- so Trump has done the American economy lasting damage!

just to be clear, I added a 'thumbs up' to your post not because of the damage—which is BAD for the States—but for its truth.

I know for a fact that the penguins of Heard Island are not interested in making a deal.
Rumor has it the Emperor Penguin just slapped the US with a 275% tariff on imports of snow from America. Now, what are the snowcone owners going to do?
