With the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching - what will y'all be having for Thanksgiving dinner?

And feel free to post any pics or recipes that you might want to share.

My goal with this thread is to work myself into a Thanksgiving hunger frenzy by Thursday. :D

We'll be at my mom's house this year with my sister's family visiting from out of state.

Pre-dinner snacks:
Cheese, summer sausage and crackers
Veggies and onion dip
Loads of Chex Mix

Dinner:
Turkey
Oyster stuffing
The best gravy in the whole wide world (my sister makes it and I could drink it in a cup)
Mashed potatoes with a bit of garlic and lots of butter
Broccoli salad
Homemade cranberry sauce
Green bean casserole
Cinnamon applesauce
Crescent rolls

Dessert:
Apple crisp
Chocolate cream pie
Lemon bars

Ok. I'll bite.

To start… a bit of champagne and some small bits of cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto.

At the table, a light garden salad with home-made roast shallot vinaigrette and some crusty rolls.

A shift to a Riesling to go with the rest of the meal:

• Brined roast turkey stuffed with rosemary sprigs and lemon.
• Home-made cranberry-orange relish
• Olives – kalamata and stuffed green olives
• Twice-baked potatoes with sharp cheddar and caramelized onions
• Squash
• Oven roasted pearl onions – roasted with the turkey for flavor.
• Green beans with toasted slivered almonds

For dessert:
• Blueberry pie (a la mode if desired)
• Pecan Pie
• Tartlets with raspberry sauce in the bottom topped with dark chocolate mousse.
• Coffee/port/brandy/Bailey’s/etc…
• Assorted nuts/chocolate

Where's my invitation?

My Thanksgiving dinner? I'm at the point where I'd be happy alone with a mason jar of moonshine and a marijuana leaf in it. Maybe Chinese takeout to go with it.

That sounds amazing - enjoy the holiday!

You like the traditional Midwest favorites, too? I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving. :)

I hope your holiday is exactly what you want it to be. :) 🦃

My whole family except me are vegetarian, so we will be foregoing meat at the table. Thanksgiving is a riot of classic sides and delicious drinks and desserts.

For starters, my sister is making these amazing artichokes which she braises then grills and serves with a malt vinegar aioli.

For dinner, it’s a table of all the best bits. Mashed potatoes with brown butter and buttermilk. Sweet potatoes candied in bourbon and caramel. Greens braised in vinegar, butter, and a little sugar. Crystalline Harvard beets. Perfect corn pudding with basil and thyme. Fresh green bean casserole made from scratch. Homemade sourdough bread. Fresh parkerhouse rolls. Fennel salad. Arugula salad. Sautéed carrots. No one goes hungry.

For drinks, along with some good red wine, we’ll have cranberry maple bourbon sours and cinnamon spiced old fashioned.

Pies for days. Butterscotch bourbon pie, spicy pumpkin pie, caramel apple pie, the darkest chocolate pie, bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Cinnamon ice cream.

Firsts: popcorn and shrimp cocktail, olives and celery.
Champagne

Dinner: Roast turkey, lemon and sage. Homemade gravy. Sausage stuffing, not inside the bird, all the innards tossed in. Baby gold Taters, mashed, butter, cream, garlic. Sweet potato with the brown sugar, apple, marshmallows. Green bean goop. Corn. Parker house rolls.
Wine of choice, I do a Red zin, or Pinot Noir.

Lasts: all homemade pah... pecan, pumpkin, apple cranberry crumb. Fresh whip. Grapes and cuties (clementines)
Irish coffee.

Oh. And cranberry sauce from a can, the jelled stuff with the can ridges, which is the ONLY way to have it.

I've got my jeggings ready!

We're feeding a fairly large extended family this year and will have the usual Turkey and ham.

I'm making a root veggie bake (potato, carrot, parsnip, turnip, sweet potato, and rutabaga in a french onion soup sauce), sweet kale salad and Atlantic Pie (kinda like a lime tart). I also just saw a recipe for pesto crescent rolls that I think I'll throw into the mix, too.

*snip*
Everything you mentioned sounds deeeeeelicious. I wouldn't miss the meat, either.

And cinnamon ice cream? Shut the front door - that may need to become a Thanksgiving staple for us.

Enjoy!

Fried chicken
Collard greens

Simple. Effective. Delicious. :)

Yum! I like the grapes and clementines with the desserts - served cold would be a nice addition.

Have a wonderful holiday!

You can have all the canned jelled stuff. 🤢

I have never heard of Atlantic Pie, but a lime tart reference makes me want to try it.

Sounds like you have a nice day in store - have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Gonna be a smallish dinner for a smallish group of people (4 adults, 2 kids)...

So turkey, dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce, and three types of pie.

Plus at least three bottles of wine. Sweetish red.

I really have no idea. Going the the hubby’s family Thanksgiving at his aunt and uncle’s. As long as there’s stuffing/dressing I’ll be happy.

As long as there is alcohol present and I dont have to be around any vegans and I dont have to hear about Trump and nobody brings any dishes that include cream of mushroom soup and my brother-in-law brings cocaine for us to do in bathroom and the wine isnt fucking Merlot and the beer isnt Bud Light and there are no dilly dilly commercials during game and my wife’s sister does not ask me a lot of questions and nobody plays any Kenny Chestnut or mentions Kaepernick or puts whipped cream on the pumpkin pie....oh fuck I will just stay in bed. I think I hate Thanksgiving.

So my mom just texted me that I was uninvited for Thanksgiving. So if you know anyone around Tampa that wants to host me I will bring green beans, wine, pills and weed. Also I will engage them in any argument. I have nothing to lose.

^^bahaha. So, safe to say, you won’t be watching the parade, either? ;)

I have a bum leg at the moment so I ordered a Hello Fresh Thanksgiving Box this year. Hello, easy button. Hello, all-I-have-to-get-at-the-grocery-is-flowers. Hello, why the fuck didn’t I do this last year?! Hello, way less Valium needed this year. Hello, now I can spend more time fussing over which color of Fiestaware plate looks best where. Hello, new ideas and new recipes for the holidays.

So: Roast turkey, gravy, garlic butter mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, apple crisp, ciabatta sausage stuffing, Mom’s bringing a salad, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. And my brother is bringing his world famous blueberry pie. Nuts and cheese and whatnot as apps. I just got an espresso machine so lotsa caffeine and *squee* foam!
