What does any of that have to do with heating your house when the power goes out?

Eyer seems a bit bothered this morning.

Thoughts and prayers. :D

Flameout's got a serious boner for Aggy today.

Well, he's been had one for the longest time, but for some reason just for today he thinks it's an aluminum staff and put a flag on it! :D

Poor Charlie "Aglaopheme" Brown seems to be ignorant of the part fossil fuels play in the generation of electricity, almost like she thinks electricity grows on the wires she sees. Of course, such disingenuous, emotionally hyperbolic and hysterical slanters are also the ones who whine the loudest about the most efficient source man currently knows of to produce power, and electricity specifically: nuclear.

I would argue that hydro is the best but when you run out of rivers you're stuck

I'm a fan of hydro. I need to do a little topo survey to see if my creek at the cabin is suitable for a mini-hydro system. I'm guessing there's enough fall but I want some facts.

My house is heated by the incessant farts of dogs and toyboys. Tragically renewable.

We do a lot of work around hydro plants here. Some of them are a hundred years old and still on original equipment.

There is talk of using the excess power from the stupid windmills to pump the water back up to the head ponds and letting it flow through again. Except the water is so high right now they can run wide open and never run out...dam global warming causing all this rain

..
There's something called a ram pump if you have enough fall that might increase flow.

Blurttttttttt Blitzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I just found out it's Friday, started the weekend early. Y'all boogie

I'm quite familiar with a ram pump. If I was to put in a garden at the cabin, I'd have one to supply creek water.
..
I was just riffing on your mini hydro plant idea and thinking about a holding pond in front of the plant not knowing what devices are available now or how much (or little) might be needed to spin the damn thing.

Neither the ram pump or the micro-hydro system would work in the winter at the cabin. The whole system would need winterization or good freeze would bust hell out of things.
