Hi there folks, one of the amusing things about this thread, is that many of the people who first commented when it was originally posted in January 2010, would now qualify for the 'Over 60's' thread. They do say that life flies by when you're having fun ;) I'm one of them by the way haha

Hmmm. If you're over 60, doesn't that mean you are also over 50? I think we need one of pmanns venn diagrams here.

Hello all!
55 year old male.my wife passed away last year and looking to have a little innocent fun on here.

Hello one and all.
A tall Irishman here who joined the over 50s club a short while ago
Been on the boards a few years. Started to write a story, realised it was terrible and scrapped it.
Two favourite things in life are beer and hurling 🍻

That sounds like an Aussie thing except in our case hurling only happens after drinking copious amounts of beer :D

Morning Play Grounders. Been a hard week here because it was my KT tape (works like braces) off week. All my muscles want to drift back when it's off & then retaped Thursday morning and I'm a tired mess now.
BUT it's Friday!!!:rose:

Happy Friday lovely lady.

What about the over 60 exhibitionist thread? Sorry shameless plug but would love to have you there

Summer is on the way here in Aussie land but we had bushfires during Winter in some parts of the country, very dry in parts of the northern and middle parts of the country. Thoughts with those folks in California. Our annual fire season has got to an early start.

Parts of my body feel older than other parts. Will be another year older in Jan and one year closer to my seniors card. Don't get much except cheaper public transport and half price for a move ticket. We currently pay $25 for a movie ticket, yep we are getting ripped off.

Hope the rest of the week is good for you.

my PT doctor had me start taking collagen to help with the achy muscle pain... (my whole medical team approved this one). Day 3 and it seems to be helping. I am still having bad headaches. This happened before when they started working on my neck. Not sure what they will decide but I see the PCP on Friday cause this is getting hard to deal with.

You poor thing! Hope you get relief!

They told me the ortho issues will always be but I'm not sure if it's a pinched nerve or what. With the kind of meds I take I never should have head aches. I'm drinking more caffeine now then ever before. Even the acupuncture needles are only lasting a couple of days. It's really annoying...

Hey Starry,

Sorry to hear the pain relief isn't lasting as long as you'd like. Pain is just something I've got used to these days. If it's not the right knee then it's the back or shoulders. I went to a GP 11 yrs ago for what I thought was a pinched nerve. He couldn't care less about that, he was concerned that there wasn't a proper medical history on me so I was sent for a list of tests after which it was pill city and I haven't been off pills since. Prior to that I only went to doctor if I was sick, which was about every 3-4 yrs and never took regular medication.

As for my shoulder pain he just said it would get better in time. Well it hasn't really happened. The new GP said it's probably one of the smaller bones in the shoulder that's the problem. Just something I have to live with and manage. So now I use a cushion to prop up my arm if I'm sitting on the couch. Sitting in chairs with no arms hurts after a while as I don't have anything to rest my arm on.

I had several tests in Oct and I got the all clear yesterday so am happy about that. At least no additional medication required. I'm taking enough now which I still find annoying after 11 yrs. I guess I'll never get used to it, just a chore I have to do everyday.

Hope your weekend is good. We are finally getting some cooler temps and much needed rain after some unusually high temps here in Melbourne town.

Afternoon all,

Well it's Melbourne Cup season again here in Melbourne town. The Spring Racing Carnival kicks off today with Derby Day which happens on the Saturday before the cup. The Melbourne Cup race is on the first Tuesday of Nov each year which is in a few days so we get a public holiday and most people take the Monday off and turn it into a long weekend. Lots of tourists will be in Melbourne all week as the carnival goes till next weekend. Oaks Day is on the Thursday which is ladies day so lots of tipsy women by the end of the day all dressed up. A good time had by all.

Being the civilized people we are here in Melbourne we have a having a public holiday for a horse race and even the day before our footy grand final. After all we are the sporting capital of the country.

Hope your weekend goes well. And if you can't have a drink and watch sport when you're in your 50's, then what's the point of getting older?

51 and chilling in Massachusetts. Emphasis on the “chilling “ part tonight. Brrr!
