That was so intense. Was almost late to work because of it. So gripping. Well done Ben Stokes but even more so Jack Leech. Knew what part he had to play and filled the role brilliantly, despite knowing he can play (92 against Ireland)

It's interesting how the press has gone overboard though, it's only one match and all it did was draw us level, and they still only need to win one of the last two to take the urn home again. I have an Aussie mate who tells me the press are giving them and in particular th captain a real pasting. And I thought it was only our lit!

Think that due to the almost surrender in the last rain affected match (the Aussies second innings, having almost have a day to try and bowl them out and not really attacking them) and the first innings at Headingley, it was always going to be an extreme reaction either way.

The press always go overboard in this country. It's embarrassing.

Happy weekend those drifting by here... what a week that was! I mean, who would have thought such a shocking decision would upset so many people, I thought the cakes he made just weren't good enough!!

Windy but dry, and that's only me... have fun!

Morning all, glad to find another UK thread..
How's everything going?

Morning all,

Did everyone have a good weekend? Ready for a new week with the added bonus of cricket on Thursday.

morning! lovely weekend, good friends, fabulous playmates, great laughs and a 51 mile bike ride yesterday that I completed without moaning despite the horrible headwind and torrential downpours...I even smashed the hills...although Lucy might dispute the word hills seeing as it was in Lincolnshire...:D

Haha, bumps? Mounds? Gentle slopes??

Sounds fun, hope your week gets off to a cracker, 51 miles is a great ride regardless of where it is and the weather doesn't help... and I bet the playing might have taken its toll a little too!!

Hugs x

it was on the edge of the wolds...:D

and I was more than a little aware of my chamois, shall we say? ;)

Kids are back to school tomorrow too.. I hate the school run, but there is some comfort in being back into a familiar routine.

I'll have you know the Lincolnshire Wolds reach a dizzying height of 550 feet above sea level - those hills are seriously challenging! :D

First day for some ...

… 4 year old (going on 14 - or even 40!) granddaughter's first day at school on Wednesday - they don't know what's going to hit them but I'm sure they've seen worse!

Same with mine. At least it should give me more time for Lit!

Those wolds, as noted above, do have some short steep ascents, for which you have my sympathy and admiration. The extra awareness of your chamois is all your own fault and eleicits no sympathy but a little bit of envy instead 🤫😊

Ahhhh priorities eh, Lucy? ;)

Also, he did that thing. The “oh no I’ve NEVER actually done it this way before. It always works the other way, but I have decided to change it this time. On the telly. What could possibly go wrong....?!?!”

Bellend.

Morning all in UK, the summer seems to have gone for now, but look on the bright side, with all the schools starting again this week it will free up so much of your time! Think of all the ME time to be had.

That's very restrained of you!!

We are the laughing stock of the world, the Trump of Europe??

Not me...I love it when the little fuckers are at school, mycommute is a breeze and parking is fabulous...not looking forward to trying to get anywhere tomorrow morning...

I'd rather drive some of those roads than cycle them,
seriously, I regularly go out all over the wolds for work and they make my knees wince..:D

My daughter is back at school today. Roads are, as predicted, shit once again. I’m lucky that we at least have car parking at our office.

Local schools back today, my cycle commute just about to get worse again but I dodge A roads and hit the lanes, though recognise I am fortunate to be able to ride in each day...
