I haven't tried either, but the instant pot chili is jarred, and the Crock-Pot bubbling way for the rest of the night.
I'm really happy with the consistency from the IP.
For the last five (5) days in a row, the weather geniuses have predicted an 80% or better chance of and warned of flooding.
Result:
Not a single drop of rain has fallen.
That's a good season.
im on the 3rd season now but wtf?
what was the house? was it a demon? alien?
also what was jules backstory that was so bad she had to be reborn?
why did i think the next season of glow came out today? it's not out until fucking friday, damn it.
I made the black beans in the instant pot, and used some of the bean water in the chili. On the stove I browned a couple pounds of ground venison with decased garlic venison sausage; added some chili, spicy chili, garlic, & onion powder, cayenne, paprika, cumin and salt. Then I sauteed onions with bell and jalapeno peppers. I think I used ten jalapenos, because they needed to be used and I wanted the heat.
Mixed together the beans, venison, veggies, and three 28oz cans of diced tomatoes. At this point I had to split between the Crock and instant pot. Used a can of tomato paste between the two batches, added bay leaf.
You know what I would miss about not using the Crock-Pot? The smell that drifts through the house the whole night as it cooks. I wasn't happy with one run through of 30 minutes pressure/30 minutes slow release, so I did an additional 25/15.
The seller jumped out of a plane, broke their legs, and won't be moving out for another two months. Seriously.
It's too warm to do all that cooking inside, here. Chili will be on my list to make in September. I will be grilling another steak this evening. And, as long as the weather is nice, eating it out on the deck.
The chili was necessary. I had a friend load me up with what seems like an entire deer worth of venison. I had to get some cooked or buy a second freezer.
