After yet another call to management, I was told repairing air is low on the priority list and I shouldn't call their emergency repair number unless it is something important. Now, at last, they are here.

But yes, I did strip and fan my . . .

Do you have a fan? If you put it in the window facing outward, it will pull the air from your house outside. Or, if you put a bowl of water behind the fan it can help cool off the air in the house. Although since it is humid outside, I am not sure if that works or not. A cool damp towel around the back of the neck helps a lot as does soaking your feet in cool water. I hope they come soon. I can't imagine dealing with heat AND humidity.

Today's 'feel like' temp was 92. And the next few days will be worse.

I'm sorry to report that HM's mother passed away this afternoon. She was 91. She went in her sleep. I loved the old gal. She was feisty and opinionated but... that was her. RIP dear Lady.

I just installed a new fountain to decorate the patio. It stands about three feet high. I think it'll take a little while to work out the bugs, and a little maintenance to keep it looking good.

I just went out to put up a flag pole bracket. When we repainted the house last year I pitched the old one, and I've had the replacement sitting next to the tool box for months.

I wanted to put up a flag tomorrow, so finally got motivated and did it. Took all of 10 minutes. Inertia is a terrible thing - I could have done it just as well any time in the last 6 months. Done now. And iced coffee is ready for tomorrow, before we start grilling. Four day weekend coming up, and getting together with family and friends. Life is good.

It's is still raining. Lighter now and the thunder is almost cone out of range. Being a holiday, I know the State Park is full. I hope everyone had there rain cover on there tent and did a good job of trenching around the bottom. Otherwise there are going to be a bunch of unhappy campers with all their stuff wet.

The flag is up out front, and it’s time to start the smoker going. If I’m good, M’lady will even let me handle the smoking while she works on side dishes. Then haul it to my brother’s place for the pot luck party. Baby back ribs, Korean short ribs, and whatever everyone else brings. Eat, drink, and keep an eye on the kids as they light fireworks. And be very, very, grateful my nephew is working today, which greatly reduces the odds of someone - probably him - getting hurt.

A few months ago I related a dream on this thread that seemed to amuse you. In the dream, dancers excited their "meons" when they performed well, then when their "meons" were excited it made the dancers better. If nothing broke the loop, then they reached a point of perfection and transcended.

My Nude Day story (linked in my sig) is what came of that dream. It's odd sometimes, how ideas drift.

Sadly, that’s sometimes my problem, too. An author I respect writes something in a genre that simply has no appeal... now what? Yes, I know, just wait for the next one, but I still feel conflicted.
