Here's the challenge: Recommend one story by another Literotica author. Not yourself. Say something about the story and why you recommend it. Post the link to it.

I've read hundreds of stories here over at least 15 years, although I've only been publishing for two and a half, and I enjoy the works of many authors in many categories, including categories in which I haven't written anything. I don't have a true favorites list, because I find it so difficult to compare different kinds of stories. But every once in a while a story strikes me as being not just well written and executed but also different in an interesting way.

My recommendation for this thread is LoquiSordidaAdMe's Time to Breathe, which was published a year ago as part of the Geek Event. In my comment on his story at the time, I described it as an erotic twist on Andy Weir's The Martian. It's about an erotic encounter between a man and a woman trapped in space, with time and oxygen running out. The author goes to considerable effort to describe the dilemma the characters are in and their attempts to deal with it, just as Weir does with The Martian. The characters are not cardboard. The prose is solid. An interesting angle that the author explores is the different ranks of the two characters. The author also deals with sex in zero gravity in entertaining ways, although it's definitely not a light sex romp. The story packs a dramatic punch.

I haven't read another story on Literotica that's anything like it. If you like The Martian and you like erotica, I think you will like Time to Breathe.

I liked the series "Sun, Shade, and Neighbors" by glendale22.

The story is about a rather conventional couple who finds that their neighbors are nudists. They gradually get into the nudist lifestyle, and then into exhibitionism as they find that they enjoy fucking in front of others and watching others fuck. What I liked was how gradually the author gets the story going, and how it focuses on the changes in the mind of the main female character as she comes out of her shell and embraces her sexuality.

Here's the link to the first story:

Jonas Agonistes, by Malraux
A masterpiece of story-telling.

Joanne Sterns by markelly
A slightly different Romance.

The Restraining Order by DeYaKen
Something with a twist.

Christmas Truce by Oggbashan

Why, in the face of so many other excellent stories? I guess because the characters are real. They all are deeply, credibly human - no billionaire philanthropists, no magic powers, no 10 inch willies or 38DD wobblers, no unlikely virgins dying to get DP’d. They didn’t all turn 18 last Tuesday, nor are they unbelievably gorgeous.

And they overcome, rise above their very realistic flaws. Through it, the best in human character shines through here and there.

And, oh yeah, there’s a plot and some educated attention to spelling and grammar.

I agree.
But have you read his "Laying the Ghosts of War" ?
A truly magic story.

What a wonderful idea. I recommend Dr Watson and Love All by shawalphamale. It even won a green E from back in the day.

A clueless Dr Watson--wondering why on earth a young woman would be crying "duck me, duck me"--tries to help our heroine but in the end...well, I shan't give it away.

I'm going to take a different approach than the other people on this thread. I don't read stories on this site for a great plot or interesting characters. I look for stories that will get me off. When I look at my list of favorites, they're all stories with implausible plots and cartoonish characters. The only author that I enjoyed his stories as stories was alwayswantedto, and he's pulled all of his stories from this site.

So the one story I'm going to recommend is silkstockingslover's Straight Housewife Blackmailed. Not because of the story, which is almost silly. But because of the black-and-white drawings embedded in the story. There's something about them that makes the story incredibly hot for me. I've read a good number of illustrated stories, and the well-drawn black-and-white drawings do far more for me than all of the alternatives. I wish I could find an artist to similarly illustrate my stories.

Sheablue's dystopian vignette:

A luscious flow of descriptive language, exquisite imagery.

Edit: noting Hector Bidon's suggestion below, I'm pretty sure I found it in AmoveableBeast's faves list, which I looked at after he left an appreciative comment on one of my own stories.

Because it is a beautiful and unexpected treasure, and because he was so kind and supportive of me as a new writer, I highly recommend Bandit by YouDidWhut.

Mercedes Bends

My interests for reading are varied but my all time favourite story, and the one that makes me wish I could write like him, is by a little known writer called Lovecraft68. Perhaps some of you may have heard of him?

The reason is it’s a story. It’s in bdsm, which is a favourite of mine both for reading and writing, but it’s not simply words on a page. The characters actually take you somewhere. It also has an ending making you wonder what happened next but you don’t want to know because it might spoil the images in your imagination. I’ve gone back and read it several times, especially when I’m stuck.

I also like the title because, just like the car, Mercedes is a classy lady.

Good thread idea! There are several authors on the AH I'd be happy to recommend, but I'm going to nominate a complete stranger instead.

AngstyPleasure, "Play Date": https://www.literotica.com/s/play-date-4

Nothing too special about the concept here. Guy and his wife make friends with one of the other parents at school, she brings her kid over for a play date, then eventually she comes over for a play date without the kids... but I like the way AP writes his characters. The dialogue and the emotions feel real to me.

Excellent thread. I'll offer one minor suggestion: that in addition to saying something about the story and why we recommend it, we also tell how we happened to come across it.

My nomination is Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Virgin Bride by byblin18. This is a luscious homage to the world-famous detective, written with a modern sensibility in perfect, formal, Doylian Victorian prose. "The case began as so many do: in our rooms at 221b Baker Street. Holmes was in a dark study and was teasing a melancholy strain from the strings of his violin. . ."

The hero in the story is Watson, his experience as a physician and—let's just say a more fully rounded man of the world—enabling him to get to the bottom of a problem that Holmes can't really even comprehend. It's a tremendously enjoyable read, and it's erotic aspect is also very compelling.

I came across this story on the very brief favorites list of KerilaBlebo. He's an author whose stories I discovered on the New list when they first came out, and whom I greatly admire. Use your favorites lists! It's a service to your readers to let them know the authors and stories that you would recommend to their attention.

I've done it several times, but have no problems doing it again. redskye's "Strange Days" series (https://www.literotica.com/s/strange-days-ch-01) is a fantastic read, especially if you like futanari and urban fantasy stories. It's a slow build plot-wise, interspersed with some sizzling, rather messy sex. Along with some hentai I stumbled upon by accident one of the reasons for my fascination with dickgirls.

I stumbled across this story by accident browsing Lit and liked it so much, I mailed the author to chat about it. To my surprise, they not only replied, but we entered into a working relationship and friendship as I began to beta-read, then edit for them. And without Red, I would never have dared to publish my stuff on Lit. They encouraged me, I tried it and the rest is history. You're stuck with me because of Red :)

Too bad real life has taken over and Red has stopped publishing.

It's a classic theme: lost bet, wife has to do a dare from husband' friend, and of course it involves nudity. Yet, this story does it very well, and it side-step most clichés. For some reason, one of the sexiest things I've read on lit is the description of the wife's swaying ponytail as she runs naked. I've shamelessly stolen that concept and put it in some of my stories.

OT, I am guilty of mostly recomending my own stories when people ask for suggestions. It's mainly because I don't read that much anymore, and I rarely rember which ones I do read.

When I first found Lit. I read a lot of stories. But there was one I read that got me to write my very first submission. This was the kind of story I liked to read.

Boystown by bobfr

It started me on my quest to write what I liked to read. And it even holds up today even though it was written 17 years ago.

Warning: it is a loving wives story.

There are four or five authors I really like. But the way my stuff gets bombed*, I don't think I will identify you...

Bored, but I obsessively checked a recent pub...

5, 5, 5, 4, then 9 stars in two votes (That means a 4 and 5 or 5 and 4), THEN TWO ONES... A 4, TWO MORE ONES, a 5 and A ONE*, then four votes with sixteen stars... Now that could have been 4x4 which would be terrific IMHO, but this is the *... Laurel's magic broom comes on Friday and ones join the dinosaurs. Bounced a point in one day. I ain't Shelley, Hemmingway or Grisham but my stuff ain't ones neither (anyone who takes the time and trouble to write here warrants more).

So 16 stars 4 votes went to 15 stars three votes, do the fucking math.

It's OK, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. Lit provides a valuable public service, otherwise the Trolls would be hurling rocks and cinder blocks off of highway overpasses to get thier jollies.

Hey, you're not doing bad. All your scores are over 2.5 stars. I haven't checked scores in I don't know how long. I do however read comments. I usually have a great laugh at the trolls who don't know what they are talking about. I can always tell they haven't read the story.

So, don't be hard on yourself.

I'm not... I don't write for stars, I do love the hearts and nice comments tho'.

My favorite negative comment was "you said her moist private places. It is most private places, don't you spell check"...

Poor guy, guess he's never seen a moist girl...

I thoroughly enjoyed a short, and sadly incomplete, series of blackmail and reluctance. It's called "Black Screen" and I hope it finishes someday.

https://www.literotica.com/s/black-screen-pt-01

The story creates great scenes of tension through the humiliation, rather than simply showing humiliation. That's what got me hooked on it.

I really loved Optimizer888's Reaching an Understanding. It's set in a world where certain people have suddenly developed super powers (think the TV show 'Heroes'). He's done several in this setting.

I love that this story is about communication. If somebody had the superpower to understand every language, wouldn't that mean they could explicitly understand unspoken things, too? Those which weren't said or necessarily meant, but nonetheless implied? Extract not just general but precise statements from body language? A great read, with, in my opinion, a perceptive grasp of how we do and how we should communicate with one another.

FWIW, I also mourn the deletion of "Love is an Upgrade," a story about an AI's relationship to its (her) owner. I believe it was by Heimann (I might be misspelling the name - I believe the account was deleted, too). Hopefully they publish again in some fashion.
