doctors, plumbers,,,
Dale Carpenter, a constitutional law professor at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, says the bill would allow licensed service providers to discriminate without worrying that their state occupational license might be threatened by their actions.

Carpenter says the list of professionals included is prodigious: "There are literally hundreds of them in Texas ... They include athletic trainers, doctors, nurses, surgeons, dentists, orthodontists, physical therapists, counselors of all kinds, accountants, engineers, landscape architects, real estate agents, tax consultants, air conditioning repair personnel, electricians, on and on and on it goes."
can someone tell me why a tax consultant would want to refuse service to a client because they are gay? or a plumber? an accountant?

this bill is, pure and simple, an excuse for the bigots of this world to discriminate against serving the lgbt community because they "believe" they are "abominations"

it's 2019, ffs. kick this shit to the curb and move on. teh gay isn't catching and i'm sure there's not one iota in the bible where jesus/god/the holy ghost says a damned plumber can't fix a gay person's faucet.

at least big money industries are fighting back - but mostly only because they'll lose money. still, money talks so maybe this is a bill-too-far. one can only hope.

A bloke at work told me last week he'd always voted DUP but wouldn't be this time because they were running a gay candidate for one of the council seats.

I called him a cunt.

Because freedom of association.

Something the left has always hated.

Real question is why not let the bigots be? If they cannot keep their shit in check enough to take my money? They shouldn’t get it.

I don’t need the state to force some shit head to service my needs, I can call someone else who will take my money with a smile.

If we leave people to be free about who they want to do business with then everyone knows who the assholes are. When you force people into hiding then it becomes a bigger problem. Keep them out in the open so the world knows.

I for one am so glad you are here and are the mouthpiece and brain for all of America.

What would we do without you?

And you were right.

Why not?

Because it ends up that in smaller towns etc that the service options become mighty limited for certain groups very quickly.

But hey, let's have government sanctioned discrimination. We don't need any of this "all men are created equal" stuff to actually mean anything. It's just paper, right?

Government sanctioned wealth distribution, sounds so romantic.

Mandated equality for all.

I'm not sure that the constitution guarantees that each and every US citizen be free from the evils of a dripping faucet. :)

Small town problems create small town opportunities.

Allowing individuals freedom of association is not the same as government sanctioned discrimination, no need to be so dishonest.

All men created equal doesn’t mean government enforced equity, especially at the expense of individual liberty. The fact that you even suggest it does goes to show how poorly and or undereducated you are on the subject of US history/government.

I don't argue with you because someone could mathematically and scientifically prove to you the sky is perceived as blue and you would argue until you are blue in the face that I am bigoted against pink skies and therefore must be stupid.

Same ol' same ol'. Frankly you should know better than to even respond to me.

I'm not your huckleberry.
