You have to put yourself in the historical context to really appreciate this. For something this profound, this well written, to appear in a comic book in 1968 was such a ground-breaking event. Before this period of time, comics were considered the pastime of the illiterate. Being seen even holding a comic book placed a stigma on you.

Thanks for the reminder. I grew up with a culture where comics (manga) was commonplace and covered all genres, so I often forget about how comics are for kids in the West.
