I think laughter is the greatest drug, medicine, whatever.. I looked and found no posts relating, so here. Name your favorites, post funny bits, jokes, etc... I'll start by naming my favorites, and if the thread picks up, I'll post some videos.

1. Mort Sahl
2. Bill Hicks
3. George Carlin
4. Louis CK
5. Bill Burr

Patrice O'Neal
Bill Burr
Richard Pryor
Chris Rock
George Carlin
Bernie Mack
Eddie Murphy
George Lopez
Fluffy ( Gabriel Iglesias )
Dave Chapelle

Correction: Fluffy is Gabriel Iglesias

Eddie Murphy was the first stand-up I saw.. I was still 17, right after graduation, family was out of town, and a friend suggested we buy beer and check out stand-up - which I had never seen before. Not only did I enjoy it, but it led me to search everything online, on TV (comedy central, HBO), live comedy shows, festivals, etc.

George Carlin far ahead of the pack.

Early Eddie Murphy

Chris Rock

I dunno. I usually don’t watch it. That’s who I’ve seen, live.

He's a real legend, had me rolling many times. You must have had a great time

Not sure if he's a standup, but I like Trevor Noah as well as the ones listed. He's funny, and insightful.

I did..

Do you think he'll ever do stand-up again? I keep reading rumors..

I hope so, but I don't think so. A family friendly image is important to his career and his stand up isn't family friendly.

Miranda Hart. Goofy, awkward, silly and so much like me in RL I get the whole uncontrollable giggle fits going on. Completely pc hardly talks about sex more along the lines of what it's like to be a bumbling British woman still single in her 30s and 40s dating misshaps.
Not so much stand up anymore but you can find snippets on YouTube

I have many that I think are outstanding, but my first favorite will always be Steve Martin. A lot of his was shtick, I realize, but he also had some pretty deep stuff and was really in tune with the times.

I'll have others later.

Don Rickles.
Only he could get away with handing out the insults like he did.
Love watching him on the Dean Martin celebrity roasts.
Truly a comedic legend

So many great artists already mentioned. I agree with George Carlin. Saw him live. He was brilliant.

Adding to the list;

Henny Youngman

The incomparable Rodney Dangerfield

My man Flip Wilson

Nobody has yet to mention Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jerry Seinfield, Jay Leno.....

Despite his bullshit, Bill Cosby was good.

I agree, he was the master. I loved Dean's Comedy Roasts.

Skipping the popular, and already mentioned choices.

Eddie Izzard
Mitch Hedberg
Jim Jefferies

One of my favorites is performing near me next weekend and I’m trying to convince husband to go - Kyle Kinane. Sooo funny and the voice just makes him funnier - low and deep.

Al Madrigal has me in tears every time I hear him (his Cholo soccer coach but is my favorite)

John Mulaney

I hear Alli Wong is very funny and her special are on my list

I have a half hour drive to work and Siri’s XM radio and sometimes listen to Comedy Central to pass the time - I’m fairly certain I look like a crazy woman just laughing away alone in my car in traffic!

Some new ones to add to the list that were old favorites I grew up on or have listened to:

Moms Mabley
Redd Foxx
Robin Harris
Robin Williams
Paul Mooney
Sheryl Underwood
Lavell Crawford
Jack Benny
Carol Burnett
Tim Conway
