I suppose you mean Clark Kent, but who is Marc? The alter ego of the original Captain Marvel was Billy Batson, a boy newscaster, who would say the magic word "Shazam." Way out in Space, the old wizard by that name would hear him and hurl a lightning bolt, which would strike Billy and turn him into Captain Marvel.

As you may or may not know, Superman has two weaknesses. One is Kryptonite and the other is magic. Since the original Captain Marvel's powers came from magic, the Big Red Cheese would have beaten Superman, if they had ever fought.

Sometimes I feel guilty or embarrassed about having spent so much of my youth reading stupid comic books.

For what it's worth, Kevin Feige has stated his version of Captain Marvel will be more powerful than the comic version, and more powerful than any of the Avengers we've already seen. If Carol Danvers has access to her Binary form, that would indeed make her very powerful.
